摘要： There is disclosed a method for the continuous production of resin-impregnated flexible graphite sheet, the method comprising (i) reacting raw natural graphite flake-like particles with a liquid intercalant solution to form intercalated graphite particles; (ii) exposing the intercalated graphite particles to a temperature of at least about 700° C to expand the intercalated graphite particles to form a stream of exfoliated graphite particles; (iii) continuously compressing the stream of exfoliated graphite particles into a continuous coherent self-supporting mat of flexible graphite; (iv) continuously contacting the flexible graphite mat with liquid resin and impregnating the mat with liquid resin; and (v) continuously calendering the flexible graphite mat to increase the density thereof to form a continuous flexible graphite sheet having a thickness of no more than about 1.0 inches.

摘要： A process for preparing carbon electrodes is presented. In particular, a process for preparing carbon electrodes including the steps of combining calcined coke, a liquid pitch binder and carbon fibers derived from mesophase pitch to form an electrodestock blend; extruding the electrodestock blend to form a green electrodestock; backing the green stock to form a carbonized electrodestock; and graphitizing the carbonized stock by maintaining the carbonized stock at a temperature of at least about 2500.degree. C. for no more than about 18 hours is presented. The electrodes prepared by the inventive process are also presented.

摘要： A method of forming a carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite articles includes the steps of: (a) selecting carbon fiber bundles that have a sizing material that is soluble in a selected dispersing fluid; (b) mixing the selected carbon bundles and other blend components in a dispersing fluid so as to debundle the carbon fibers and to produce a slurry of blend components in which the individual carbon fibers are substantially randomly oriented and uniformly distributed throughout; and (c) removing the dispersing fluid either prior to or during the process of forming of the solids of the slurry into a carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite article having individual carbon fibers substantially randomly oriented and uniformly distributed throughout.
