A stepping motor in which the performance is enhanced by preventing a variation in the axial urging force of a rotary shaft caused by generation of heat from the stator coil of the motor. The stepping motor comprises a rotary shaft having one side provided with a lead screw and the other side to which a rotor magnet is secured. The rotor magnet is rotatably opposed to the inner circumference of the stator. The rotary shaft is supported rotatably at the opposite end parts thereof by bearings. An urging force means is provided on one side of the rotary shaft and a resilient member is contained in a recess provided at the fore end part on one side of the rotary shaft. The urging force means urges the rotary shaft in the axial direction by means of the resilient member through a point contact member interposed between the bearing for supporting the fore end part and the resilient member.
