A simulation testing system and method for testing an automobile system or component(s) such as an exhaust system (14) comprises first and second multi-axis simulation tables. One part of the exhaust system is supported by one of the tables with another part being supported by the other table. Each table includes hydraulic actuators (8) capable of imparting motion to the tables in a number of directions. The tables are independent from each other so that the motion imparted to one table can be distinct and separately controlled from that motion imparted to the other table. By arranging the tables so that the motions can vary between the two tables, more realistic simulation testing can be performed on the system or component being tested.

A vibration generating mechanism includes at least first and second permanent magnets (12, 14, 46, 48) spaced from each other with the same magnetic poles opposed to each other. The first permanent magnet (12, 46) is coupled to a link mechanism (16, 50) so that the drive force of a drive source (18, 52) may be transmitted to the first permanent magnet (12, 46) via the link mechanism (16, 50). A periodic and reciprocating movement of the first permanent magnet (12, 46) relative to the second permanent magnet (14, 48) changes the opposing area thereof, causing vibration of the second permanent magnet (14, 48).

Les excitateurs (14) agissent sur un plateau d'interface (32) portant un mât (50) équipé du viseur (A) à tester, en trois points formant un triangle équilatéral centré sur l'axe du mât. Les mouvements du plateau (32) sont limités à une translation selon un axe vertical et à deux rotations autour de deux axes horizontaux orthogonaux par un mécanisme approprié (30,26,28,42,44,46). The three-dimensional standard vibrator based on leaf-spring-type decoupling device contains a base set with three single-dimensional vibrators (along X, Y and Z axes, respectively) and a three-dimensional vibration platform. The X axis vibrator is connected with the three-dimensional vibration platform through X axis decoupling device, the Y axis vibrator is connected with the three-dimensional vibration platform through Y axis decoupling device, and the Z axis vibrator is connected with the three-dimensional vibration platform through Z axis decoupling device. The properties of the three-dimensional vibrator are as follow. X axis decoupling device, Y axis decoupling device and Z axis decoupling device are all comprised of supporting-spring units. Each of the supporting-spring units contains a pair of leaf springs mounted parallel with each other and the first and second connecting components mounted on the two edges of the leaf springs. The first connecting component is near the vibrator and the second connecting component is near the three-dimensional vibration platform.
