摘要： An image display apparatus and method for displaying a broadcast schedule list are provided. The image display apparatus includes a storage unit which stores information on broadcast programs scheduled for broadcast, and a controller which reads out the stored broadcast program information so that the information is displayed in the form of a sliding banner on one side of a screen. Therefore, a user may easily confirm the broadcast schedule list without accessing the corresponding menu individually in order to check the scheduled broadcast programs. Additionally, an obstacle to viewing broadcasts caused by having to check the schedule list may be reduced, and thus user convenience can be enhanced.

摘要： The present invention provides an improved method for the combined transmission of image and additional data. The present invention generates a transmission signal that includes an image transmission area, which is applied for the transmission of both the image and additional data. In order to transmit image and additional data without interference between these different kinds of data, the present invention takes the resolution of a display device that displays the transmitted video data into account when generating the transmission signal. In particular, the size of the transmission area is set so that it provides more space than actually is required for the transmission of an image having a resolution matching the resolution of the display device. Therefore, it is not necessary to superimpose the additional data onto the image data or to transmit image having a resolution being smaller than the resolution of the display device.

摘要： In accordance with an embodiment, a system and method for playing a game using video content as the game environment is disclosed. The video content may be provided from a video-on-demand system (40) or using broadcast video signals. Depending on the object of the game, the player may try to hit, shoot or avoid specific objects in the video content environment. Those objects are identified at the time of authoring the game. During the game, a game application knows about the objects and can evaluate the performance of the player. Use of on-demand or live broadcast video source as the context environment for a game is disclosed. The game application is synchronized with the video content.

摘要： An Internet television program guide system is provided that allows a user at a multimedia system to access information related to television programs over an Internet communications link. The user can view television program guide listings and related video stills and video clips. The user can perform database searches on the program guide listings (e.g., to search for a particular type of television program). If desired, the user can select an option that directs the multimedia system to tune directly to a television channel for a selected program or to a related television program guide or movie guide service on a television channel. The user can order pay-per-view events using the system.
