An apparatus for dividing substantially parallelepipedic bodies (14, 15) of only partially cured aerated concrete into smaller pieces comprises cutting means (47) for cutting the bodies along horizontal cutting planes into substantially parallelepipedic pieces (16, 17) having a thickness which is substantially smaller than the original height of the bodies while the bodies rest on horizontal supports (10, 11). Each of these pieces can be lifted from the remaining part of a respective body (14, 15) and transferred to a further support (19) arranged in a stacking station (18), by means of a transport means (48) which exerts a suction force to the upper side of the pieces, which pieces are placed one on top of the other in the stacking station, to form a stack (20) intended for insertion into a final-curing station. The apparatus comprises two cutting stations (12, 13) with associated cutting means (47) for dividing a respective aerated concrete body (14, 15), the cutting stations being located adjacent to and on each side of the further support (19). Each of the cutting stations (12, 13) is coordinated with a respective transport means (48) for moving the pieces (16, 17) from respective cutting stations to the further support, which is common to both cutting stations.

The transport assembly is mounted on a housing which includes a vacuum drum (65) to maintain ticket engagement with transport belts (75), as the belts traverse a path having a horizontal (44) to vertical (50) orientation about the top and front of the housing. The stacker incorporates a stacking belt (30) which is incremented in the stacking direction, in synchronisation with a cutter (26). Stacker infeed disks (22) are mounted on the transport terminus roller (26) in a unitary arrangement which both releases tickets from the transport and feeds tickets to the stacker. A friction-loaded back stop (29) movable along the stacking axis maintains successively fed tickets in an orderly array, in cooperation with the stacking belt.

The invention relates generally to a tube manufacturing station including a flying cutoff apparatus for cutting longitudinally moving and axially rotating tubing. The flying cutoff apparatus comprises a cutter mechanism (22) on a carriage (26) running on tracks (24) along the tubing (18) to be cut, the cutter mechanism being movable between a non-cutting position and a cutting position. Upon movement to the cutting position, the cutting mechanism (22) clamps onto the tubing and rides along with it while at the same time cutting it as the tubing rotates. The movement of the carriage and cutter mechanism is due solely to the latter's being clamped, when in its cutting position, to the moving tubing.

An apparatus is provided for stacking slided products from a slicing machine of the type in which a loaf (17) is fed into a cutting blade (13) to be cyclically slided. The apparatus comprises a first stack receiver (23) and a second stack receiver (24) each comprising a pair of receiving plates (23) and operable between a closed position where the receiving plates are adjacent each other for accumulating the slices and an open position where the receiving plates (25) are spaced from each other for discharging the slices. The stack receivers (23,24) are moved in the vertical direction such that one of them is in the raised position when the other of them is in the lowered position. The stack receivers (23,24) are closed at the raised position and opened at the lowered position. The slices can be discharged from the stack receiver (23,24) with maintaining an aligned condition.
