A shot control hosel (10) is disclosed for customizing golf clubs. The disclosed embodiments of the invention provide a set of hosels (10c, 10d, 10e) ,each hosel (10) having a conical body (12). The body (12) has a central axis, a top portion (16) and a bottom portion (14). A cylindrical opening (23) extends from the top portion (16) to the bottom portion (14) and is adapted to accommodate a golf club shaft (34). A flange (21) may be provided on the body (12) and may be adapted to engage a notch (32) within a bore of a golf club head. A resilient barb (18) on the smaller of the top portion (16) and the bottom portion (14) is provided to secure the hosel (10) within the bore.
A golf club (10) comprises a head (12) consisting of a body (13) into which a generally L-shaped insert (14) is incorporated, said insert having the upper arm of the L projecting from the body to constitute a fastening element for the cane (11). The body is advantageously made of silver and the insert is made of titanium.
An adjustable customized golf club, e.g., a golf putter, as well as a method for using the club, wherein the club has a head, a striking surface attachment, and one or more lock fittings that positively lock the striking surface attachment to the head. The striking surface attachment is one of several selectable attachments, each with different performance characteristics, e.g., rebound. The one or more lock fittings positively lock the striking surface attachments to the putter head such that the club components are firmly fixed, yet are still quickly removable and replaceable. In a representative embodiment, the striking surface attachment can be removed by hand and without tools. A golfer quickly changes the striking surface attachments without losing the feel of the prior striking surface attachment, thereby enabling the golfer to realistically compare the differences between the attachments before selecting and playing with a particular striking surface attachment.

PCT No. PCT/GB97/01456 Sec. 371 Date Nov. 25, 1998 Sec. 102(e) Date Nov. 25, 1998 PCT Filed May 29, 1997 PCT Pub. No. WO97/45172 PCT Pub. Date Dec. 4, 1997A golf club having a shaft (3) and a club head (2) which is connected to a shank portion (4) of the shaft at its heel end (31) so that it can be rotated around the axis of the shank portion. The configuration of the shank portion is such that the shaft axis and the shank axis intersect at about the bottom of the heel end of the club head so that rotating the club head around the shank axis causes the angle between the club face (30) and the shaft (3) to change.

This invention relates to a head connecting device in golf clubs, and in particular to a cast iron head on a wooden golf club, such as a driver, a brush, a baff, a creek. The object of this invention is to provide a setting part, i.e. a tube with an eccentric bore which inclines against the axis of the tube and is located between the head and the shaft so that the face angle α of the hit face 1a of head 1 can be adjusted easily by changing the direction or the angle of the setting part.
