Eine Vorrichtung für die automatische Speisung und Dosierung von Gießkarussellen mit aufgebauten Kokillen, besteht aus einem oder mehreren kippbaren Gießgefäßen (1, 2), die das Metall in eine Vergeißrinne (5) abgeben, die horizontal und vertikal schwenkbar und horizontal verschiebbar ist. Sie kann in der Nähe ihres Auslaufs zeitweilig mit den kontinuierlich umlaufenden Kokillen (11) verbunden werden und so diesen während eines Teiles der Umlaufbahn folgen und sie dabei mit Metall füllen. Der Geißvorgang wird durch Hochkippen der Vergießrinne beendet, wobei auch die zeitweilige Verbindung mit dem Gießkarussell (12) gelöst wird. Für die automatische Steuerung sind Impulsgeber zur Regelung der kippgeschwindigkeit und zur Überwachung des Kippwinkels der Gießgefäße sowie der Schmelztemperatur der Vergießrinne und außerdem ein Steuersystem zur abgestimmten Betätigungder Bewegungshydraulik der Gießgefäße (1,2) der Vergießrinne (5) und der Verbindung der Gießrinne mit dem Gießkarussell (12) vorgesehen.

A method for reducing dust emissions in a metal or slag casting apparatus, as well as a metal or slag casting apparatus allowing reducing dust emissions, comprising an endless conveyor having a plurality of casting moulds with upper open tops and which endless conveyor is arranged to move said casting moulds in a first section from a casting station to a discharge station and in a second section back to the casting station, the method comprising (a) providing a casing forming a bottomless box over at least part of the first section of the endless conveyor, (b) injecting within said casing a gas on the surface of the mould with an angle sufficient to blow off loose, solid particles, such as graphite flakes, formed at the surface of the metal, during early stages of the cooling down and to start the solidification of a superficial layer of metal or slag, (c) extracting the gas and the solid particles by suction from within said casing.

The invention relates to an ingot mould (1) for metals, which is intended for the production of an ingot through the cooling and solidification of a liquid metal mass. The inventive mould consists of a wall (2) which defines a base (4) and an inner surface (5) comprising one part S, known as the cooling surface, which can discharge all or part of the heat energy released by the metal mass during the cooling and solidification thereof. The invention is characterised in that the cooling surface S comprises at least one flat surface element Si which forms all or part of the base (4) of the ingot mould (1). The invention is also characterised in that it comprises at least one point C on a plane Pi which is tangential to each surface element Si, such that all of the segments of the straight line D connecting every point R of the cooling surface S to point C are only located inside the mould (1). The invention is further characterised in that the total area of surface elements Si is at least equal to 10 % of the surface S. The inventive ingot mould can be used to accelerate the production of ingots.

A pouring conveyor (11) in the form of a continuous loop receives sand molds (M, M') on pallets (12) or other mold carriers and conveys the empty molds to a pouring station (80) wherein molten material is deposited therein to form castings. Each mold (M, M') is provided with a supportive weight and jacket (14) before pouring. Thereafter, the molds (M, M') with the weight and jacket (14) surrounding them, pass through a primary cooling line, at the end of which molds and weight and jacket are separated in a jacket transfer station. The weighted jacket is removed and transferred to an on-coming freshly made mold while the castings pass through a secondary cooling zone for further cooling and subsequently discharged said conveyor (11). The process allows for a substantially smaller number of weight jacket combinations and floor space than previously known molding processes.

A casting hood (13) overlies at least a portion of the moulds (12) on the upper run (14) of the conveyor (11). Adjacent moulds (12) of the portion of moulds are closely contiguous during passage beneath the casting hood (13) whereby passage of protective gas between said adjacent moulds is minimised. The casting hood (13) and the portion of moulds (120) form a substantially gas-tight enclosure above the portion of moulds (12) into which gas can be introduced. The enclosure houses the discharge member of the molten metal supplying device (20).
