摘要: A position detector is constructed from fabric having electrically conductive elements. The detector has at least two electrically conducting planes. An electric potential is applied across one of the planes to determine the position of a mechanical interaction. In addition, a second electrical property is determined to identify additional properties of the mechanical interactions.

摘要: A new touch screen is based upon the mapping of coordinates from an equipotential space defined by a simple set of screen electrodes to some other, more useful coordinates, such as Cartesian. The key idea is that unique coordinate mapping can be achieved with each sensing pair of electronic readings. A new sensor is described with a band of intermediate conductivity framing the sensor area. This sensor can be used advantageously either as a standalone with uniform equipotential distributions or in connection with the mapping concepts discussed herein with non-uniform distributions.

摘要: To realize a coordinate reading apparatus which is capable of easily setting a particular function to a switch provided on a coordinate indicator, and an interface unit and a coordinate reading system for the coordinate reading apparatus. A coordinate detecting section 21 detects a coordinate value for a position indicated by a coordinate indicator 3 and a switch status. A function selecting means 22 determines that a menu provided on a tablet 2 is read from the coordinate value and the status, to store functional data assigned to the menu in a memory means 23. A conversion status determining means 24 determines that the inputted status coincide with the status to be converted stored in the memory means 23, to notify coincidence to a conversion status output means 25. Receiving the notification, the conversion status output means 25 outputs data to be outputted stored in the memory means 23 instead of inputted switch status.

摘要: The present invention concerns a coordinate input device for entering coordinate values by superposing on a display device (LCD or CRT). The device is comprised of a coordinate input section (401) wherein a first conductive sheet (151) for x-coordinate detection provided with electrodes (x1, x2) on a pair of end edges and a second conductive sheet for y-coordinate detection provided with electrodes on a pair (152) of end edges are superposed through a spacer (153) so that respective electrodes intersect orthogonally. A predetermined voltage is applied between one of the electrodes of said first conductive sheet and one of electrodes of said second conductive sheet for detecting the variation of said voltage. When the voltage varies, a predetermined voltage is applied between one electrode (x1) of the first conductive sheet and one electrode (y2) of the second conductive sheet. When the voltage does not vary, no current flows between the pair of electrodes (x1, x2 or y1 or y2) of either of the first conductive sheet or the second conductive sheet. Therefore the low power consumption is maintained.

摘要: In the information transfer method the information (I) is collected in the memory (55) of a pointing pen (51). A selected point on the display (43) is pressed with the tip of the pen (51), whereby a frequency change of the resonant circuit (42/52) indicates the contact, and a change in the resonance signal's strength in the receiving circuit determines the position of the pen. Then the oscillation of a second resonant circuit (43/53) is modulated with the information (I) in the memory. The received and demodulated (47) and possibly otherwise processed (48) signal is then presented on the display (43). With this method the user can transfer scanned information directly to the display of a pen computer or a mobile phone for further processing.

摘要: A touchpad sensor comprising a first plurality of electrically conductive strips positioned proximate to a second plurality of electrically conductive strips. The conductive strips in each plurality lie substantially in a single plane and the two pluralities are skewed relative to one-another in plan view. Ideally, the pluralities are aligned orthogonally. The conductive strips are separated by insulators that extend I beyond the surface of at least one of the pluralities of conductors to separate the conductors of one plurality from the conductors of the other plurality until a localized pressure is applied to a region of the pad. When a localized pressure is applied, the conductors and insulators deform until a conductor from the first plurality forms an electrically conducting path with at least one conductor from the second plurality, which can be detected using banks of drivers and receivers.

摘要: An active matrix surface pressure input panel comprises a flexible pressure sheet (3) stacked onto a circuit base plate. The pressure sheet includes a conductive layer (7) and the circuit base plate (5) comprises an insulating plate (10) with first and second groups (15,17) of intersecting electrode lines and a multiplicity of detection elements formed thereon. Each detection element (21) includes a contact plate (23) coupled to the electrode lines by a switch (19), such as a thin film transistor or diode, and configured to generate an electrical signal when the overlying portion of the conductive layer contacts the contact plate. The electrode lines are coupled to an electrical circuit that determines the relative location of each electrical signal to map an overall surface pressure distribution. With this configuration, the surface pressure input panel exhibits high definition over a relatively large detection area so that complicated surfaces, such as fingerprints, can be accurately detected and reproduced.
