Abstract:
A rubber composition comprising a nitroxide compound crosslinking agent containing 2.3 to 5.0 parts by weight of organic peroxide having a one-hour half-life temperature of 110 to 130°C, based on 100 parts by weight of an ethylene-butene-non-conjugated diene copolymer. Then, the ethylene-butene-non-conjugated diene copolymer can be used by being blended with EPDM in an amount of 50 wt% or less in the total amount of the ethylene-butene-non-conjugated diene copolymer and EPDM. A sealing material for fuel cell separators comprising a crosslinked molded article of the rubber composition, having functions required as a sealing material for separators, and having improved low temperature sealing properties and scorch resistance as well as excellent injection molding properties.

Abstract:
The purpose of this invention is to make it easy to handle all-rubber gaskets. To achieve this purpose, a gasket is characterized in that a gasket body of only rubber is combined with a carrier film that is made from a resin film to hold the gasket body in a non-adhesive state. A three-dimensional portion having a shape that is deformed along the external shape of the gasket body is provided at a position where the gasket body and a plane of the carrier film overlap, and a portion of the gasket body is contained in the three-dimensional section. The gasket body is used as a gasket for fuel cells incorporated into a fuel cell stack.
Abstract:
A high-performance separator for a fuel cell is provided that includes an electrically conducting flow path part and an integrated insulating outer circumferential part surrounding the flow path part. The flow path part includes an electrically conducting resin composition including a carbonaceous material (A) and a thermoplastic resin composition (B) at a mass ratio (A)/(B) of 1 to 20 with the total mass of (A) and (B) accounting for 80 to 100 mass % in the composition. The flow path part has a corrugated shape having a recess and a projection on each of front and back surfaces thereof, where the recess constitutes a groove for a flow path, and a thickness of 0.05 to 0.5 mm and a maximum thickness/minimum thickness ratio of 1 to 3. The insulating outer circumferential part includes an insulating thermoplastic resin composition having a volume resistivity of 1010 &OHgr;cm or more.
Abstract:
An exemplary fuel cell electrode assembly includes a membrane. A first electrode is on the first side of the membrane. A second electrode is on a second side of the membrane. A first gas diffusion layer is adjacent the first electrode. At least a portion of the first gas diffusion layer is at least partially impregnated by a first plastic material that bonds the portion of the first gas diffusion layer to the first electrode. A second gas diffusion layer is adjacent the second electrode. At least a portion of the second gas diffusion layer is at least partially impregnated by a second plastic material that bonds the second gas diffusion layer to the second electrode. A third plastic material is between at least one of the gas diffusion layers and the adjacent electrode for electrically isolating the first gas diffusion layer from the second gas diffusion layer.
Abstract:
According to an example embodiment, a method of making a fuel cell component includes permeating at least a portion of a component layer with a polymer. The portion of the component layer is adjacent an edge of the component layer. Some of the polymer is allowed to extend beyond the edge to thereby establish a flap beyond the edge of the component layer. A fuel cell component includes a component layer having a portion adjacent an edge of the layer that is impregnated with a polymer material and a flap of the polymer material extending beyond the edge.
Abstract:
A frame gasket may include a flat base, which is positioned along the edge of stack constitutional parts and which includes a first elastic base and reinforced fibers mixed therein to ensure sealing of a fuel cell stack, and first projection units, which project over the base and which include a second elastic base.
