    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a customer premises equipment with a broadband access network of a telecommunications network, wherein the broadband access network comprises at least one access node,
    wherein a specific access node of the broadband access network is enabled to operatively connect the customer premises equipment to the telecommunications network in view of providing communication services and/or communication access services to a user related or connected to the customer premises equipment,
    wherein the broadband access network comprises a service edge entity or functionality and a policy controller entity or functionality as well as a business support system entity or functionality, wherein, in case that the customer premises equipment is unknown to the telecommunications network or has previously not been connected to the telecommunications network, the method comprises the following steps:
    -- in a first step, the customer premises equipment transmits a request to be connected to the broadband access network, via the specific access node, to the service edge entity or functionality and/or to the policy controller entity or functionality, wherein thereby the specific access node also transmits a line ID information related to the connection, or port, used by the customer premises equipment,
    -- in a second step, the customer premises equipment receives, from the service edge entity or functionality and/or from the policy controller entity or functionality the line ID information,
    -- in a third step, the customer premises equipment initiates a protected data transmission tunnel to the business support system entity or functionality, wherein the data transmission tunnel is specific to the customer premises equipment, and wherein the line ID information as well as an identifier information, relating to the customer premises equipment, is transmitted, using the data transmission tunnel, to the business support system entity or functionality.

    Abstract: An method for expediting Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) scanning for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server includes: transmitting, by a software tool, VLAN ethernet trunk frames including VLAN Identifier (ID) 1 to VLAN ID 4095 , to an ethernet interface of a radio unit (RU), the ethernet interface being connected via an ethernet switch to a distributed unit (DU), wherein the DHCP server is located at the DU; selectively forwarding, by the ethernet switch to the DU, only a VLAN ethernet trunk frame having VLAN ID value X predefined by operator of the O-RAN system; selectively responding, by the DU, in response to receiving the VLAN ethernet trunk frame having VLAN ID value X, by sending a DHCP response message to the RU; and identifying, by the RU from the DHCP response message, the VLAN ID value X corresponding to the DHCP server.

    Abstract: In some implementations, a broadband network gateway (BNG) may receive, from a customer premises equipment, a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) discover request, wherein the BNG is connected to the customer premises equipment and a fixed mobile interworking function (FMIF). The BNG may communicate with, based on the DHCP discover request, the FMIF. The BNG may provide to the customer premises equipment, and based on communicating with the FMIF, a DHCP offer that offers utilization of the BNG as a DHCP server. The BNG may receive from the customer premises equipment, and based on providing the DHCP offer, a DHCP request to request utilization of the BNG as the DHCP server.     Abstract: A wireless device (S) includes a radio (R) for communicating via a wireless communication protocol which employs messages constructed as layer 2 MAC frames each including a layer 2 MAC header and a payload. The wireless device is configured to operate in (i) a first mode in which the wireless device transmits messages (N0, ..., Nn) via the radio each including an IPv6 packet header and an upper layer protocol data unit encapsulated within the payload of a layer 2 MAC frame, and (ii) a second mode in which the wireless device transmits messages (M0, ... , Mn) via the radio each including an upper layer protocol data unit encapsulated within the payload of a layer 2 MAC frame without including the IPv6 header. A relay device (T) comprises a radio for communicating via the wireless communication protocol which employs messages constructed as layer 2 MAC frames each including a layer 2 MAC header and a payload. In one power-saving aspect, the relay device is configured to perform a header insertion service (I) in which the relay device receives messages (M0, ..., Mn) via its radio from the wireless device (S), each including an upper layer protocol data unit encapsulated within the payload of a layer 2 MAC frame without including the IPv6 header. The header insertion service inserts header information (A') into the messages (M0, ..., Mn) received from the wireless device (S) and retransmits the messages with complete headers as messages (M0 ', ..., Mn '). In another power-saving aspect, the relay device additionally or alternatively applies an acknowledgement detection criterion to filter out acknowledgements received from the server, and forwards the filtered out acknowledgements to the wireless device (S) via the radio at a reduced rate.

    Abstract: A policy driven zero touch provisioning (ZTP) system implements techniques for policy driven ZTP of network devices. One or more ZTP policies, configurations and/or boot images associated with one or more network devices are stored in a database. Upon execution of a boot sequence, a network device automatically sends a DHCP request including network device identification information to the policy driven ZTP system. The policy driven ZTP system identifies a matching ZTP policy having conditions that match the network device identification information. The ZTP system generates a DHCP response including IP leasing information, a boot configuration information by which a boot configuration may be automatically obtained, and/or boot image information by which a boot image may be automatically obtained as defined by the matching ZTP policy. The techniques allow ZTP policies to be defined with device-level granularity for boot configuration and/or boot images.
