    摘要: Accurate control of the lateral position and spacing of a photosensitive medium (2) is provided for recording a succession of lines representing graphic images or portions thereof, without mechanical edge guides. The apparatus includes an optical edge detector (14), a film drive assembly having two independently controlled feed units (10; 12), and a deviation correction means to correct the position prior to actual printing of images. Preferably, a triang­ulation method is used to electronically correct the drive path of the medium (2). Error-correction is obtained by the combined action of the two independent feed units (10; 12) operated by an electronic control circuit receiving signals generated by the optical edge detector. The apparatus also includes means (35-37) to maintain the image receiving section of the photo­sensitive medium (2) in a flat plane. An image placement carriage (200) carrying optical elements (202) is supported on magnetic slider pads (211-213) forming bearing elements which hold the carriage onto smooth tracks (208) made of magnetic material, thus minimizing or eleminating vibrations from the motion of the carriage and improving the quality of the images formed on the photosensitive medium (2).

This detected position of the side edge of the original in retention is used as a reference in respect of which control signals are derived for the position correction unit.

    摘要: Method of calibration for detecting a reference mark (12) printed on plate-like items (10) in a processing machine (1) comprising an inserter (20) for positioning these plate-like items (10) in a plurality of grasping members (31) of a conveyor (30) which conveys them steadily in single file through successive stations (3, 4, 5), said inserter (20) being provided with a fixing device (21), and said inserter (20) being controlled by a control unit (40) which also controls at least one lighting device and at least one sensor (7). This method consists in selecting one plate-like item (10) from a batch of plate-like items (10) to be processed, activating the fixing device (21) to secure said plate-like item (10) to the inserter (20), and then causing the inserter (20) to perform a series of to-and-fro movements with said plate-like item (10). The lighting device and the sensor (7) are controlled in such a way that with each to-and-fro movement the lighting device applies different lighting to the reference mark (12) printed on said plate-like item (10), and the sensor (7) takes a corresponding reading, so as to generate a series of readings. The parameters of calibrated lighting which will be used during the processing of the whole of the batch of plate-like items (10) are determined on the basis of said generated series of readings.
