An apparatus and a method for controlling the operation of a reach tower crane in which a horizontal boom can be expanded and/or retraced in a safe and secure fashion by one operator and in which even when sensors are out of order, the stability of a vehicle can be secured. For this purpose, the apparatus comprises a plurality of sensors for detecting the operation of an actuator (6) for operating a device for expanding and rectracting a horizontal boom (5), a controller (36) transmitting a control signal based on signals from those sensors, and a hydraulic device for controlling the operation of various actuators on receiving this control signal. In addition, an operation lever and an operation switch are used to expand and/or retract the horizontal boom (5).

In a manual controller with a control lever mounted in a housing and held in a bearing so as to swivel around two orthogonal axes around a fixed point, the bearing is designed as an elastomer joint whose elastic restoring force is directed towards the zero position of the control lever from all deflected positions of the control lever. This elastomer joint ensures an accurate bearing and remplaces by a single piece several mechanical components of previous devices. By appropriate dimensioning, additional restoring elements for returning the control lever to its zero position may either be completely dispensed with or have smaller dimensions. In addition, rubber or a corresponding plastic material for the elastomer joint also prevents humidity from entering the housing and thus has an additional sealing function. The elastomer joint, as an easy-to-produce, single-piece component, thus replaces several bearing, restoring and sealing components required in the state-of-the-art, or simplifies their design and production.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Hebezeug mit einer Hubvorrichtung, durch die ein über ein Zugmittel mit der Hubvorrichtung verbundenes Lastaufnahmemittel heb- und senkbar ist und einer mit dem Lastaufnahmemittel verbundenen Steuervorrichtung, bestehend aus einem Gehäuse, einem Griff zum Manipulieren des Lastaufnahmemittels und in dem Gehäuse angeordneten Schaltelementen, die zum Steuern der Hubvorrichtung von im Gehäuse angeordneten und zum Griff geneigten Druckelementen betätigbar sind, die von dem Daumen einer den Griff umfassenden Hand erreichbar sind. Um bei einem derartigen Hebezeug eine bedienerfreundliche und somit auch sichere Handhabung der Steuervorrichtung zu erreichen, insbes. wenn diese sich in Bezug auf die Last in einer extremen Lage befindet, wird erfindungsgemäß vorgeschlagen, daß der Griff (6) bogenförmig ist, wobei seine Krümmung so gewählt ist, daß die Außenseite (6a) des Griffes (6) in gedachter Verlängerung die Druckelemente (Schaltwippe (21)) im Bereich ihrer Auflageflächen (25) schneidet.

An operating device for an electric chain block having an electric motor for winding-up and -off operation comprises a cylinder body (11) interposed between one end of a chain for winding-up and -off an object and a hook for hanging the object, a cylindrical grip (13) fitted on the cylinder body and slidable upwardly and downwardly over predetermined distances relative to the cylinder body. The device further comprises a movement detecting device (24, 25) provided in the cylinder body for detecting upward and downward movements of the cylindrical grip, a moved distance detecting device (26, 27) provided in the cylinder body for detecting distances of the upward and downward movements of the cylindrical grip, and control device for energizing the electric motor to rotate it in normal and reverse directions in response to output of the movement detecting device according to the upward and downward movements of the cylindrical grip, respectively, and controlling rotating speeds of the electric motor in response to output of the moved distance detecting device. Changing the winding-up and -off operations and controlling the speeds of the operations are effected by an operator in the same sense as the operator raises and lowers a heavy object by himself.
