Disclosed herein are opaque glass-ceramics comprising at least one nepheline crystal phase and comprising from about 30 mol % to about 65 mol % SiO2, from about 15 mol % to about 40 mol % Al2O3, from about 10 mol % to about 20 mol % (Na2O+K2O), and from about 1 mol % to about 10 mol % (ZnO+MgO). Also disclosed herein are opaque-glass ceramics comprising at least one nepheline crystal phase and at least one spinel-structure phase doped with at least one colorant chosen from transition metals and rare earth elements. Further disclosed herein are methods for making these opaque glass-ceramics.

Glass can have a high thermal expansion coefficient when it is made up of SiO 2 , B 2 O 3 , Na 2 O, K 2 O, MgO and Al 2 O 3 ; contains a partial crystal; and has a mean thermal expansion coefficient of 125×10 -7 K -1 in a temperature range of 50°C to 150°C. Using this glass as a substrate for a multilayer film filter can fully reduce temperature fluctuations in the filter properties.

The present invention is directed to a method for synthesizing highly crystalline pollucite articles at temperatures not exceeding 1650°C. The method comprises two general steps:
(a) a glass frit is prepared having a composition varying from approximately the stoichiometry of Cs₂O·2SiO₂ to approximately the stoichiometry of Cs₂O·4SiO₂ with, optionally, up to 5% Al₂O₃; and (b) that glass frit is reacted at a temperature between about 1000°-1650°C with an Al₂O₃-containing material in sufficient amounts to yield a final product having a stoichiometry approximating that of pollucite.

Provided is a crystallized glass raw material, characterized in that the crystallized glass raw material has a thickness of 0.02-5mm, and the crystallized glass raw material has a crystallinity of 5-90wt%. A preparation method for the crystallized glass raw material of the present invention has low processing difficulty and low processing cost; and the preparation method saves on time costs and also saves on energy for heat treatment.
