Said drive kinematic drive means comprise a first side carriage and a second side carriage, opposite to each other (15, 16) on which said gripping means (11) and cutting means (12) are installed, and a third, central carriage (26) on which said needle (13) is installed, said carriages (15, 16, 26) being driven to reciprocate by respective cams (18, 19, 28), which directly act on them, with the only interposition of a respective cam follower.

The movement of the hook-needle, the thread-seizing device or pincer and the weft-thread cutting unit, or scissors, is at each instant positively controlled by a set of cams mounted on the shaft of the tucked selvedge forming machine and connected with the said hook-needle through respective linkage systems, the said cams being operative for an angle equal to 360° divided by the number of weft threads that are simultaneously tucked in the same warp shed.

The invention relates to a method for inserting weft ends into a shed (1.1, 1.2) of a weaving machine. Wefts (3) are selected using weft selection means (19) which are inserted into the shed by means of weft inserting means and are fastened to a fabric edge by a weaving reed device (7, 7.1, 10). A fastened weft (3) is held in the region of the fabric edge in a specific position by holding means for the weft, wherein a change of the shed is carried out by the shedding means (4) after the weft insertion. The wefts are moved using the holding means for the wefts such that they reach a position in which they are cut by weft shears. A weft end is thus created, which is then detected by an inserting means and inserted into the shed. Between two successive weft insertion processes for a first and a second weft, the following processes occur: an additional weaving reed stop occurs via the weaving reed device, wherein no weft is entered and fastened to the fabric edge, however; and no weft end of the first inserted weft is inserted into the shed; and an effect thread extending in the warp direction for creating additional weft effects is moved in the weft direction on the weaving machine by means of a moving device.

The nozzles (7) are connected to holes (3) for air intake. The filling nozzle is equipped with a slot (6) comprising a further nozzle, which slot (6) comprises a lead-in key (8) at its open end for leading in the weft (9). The base of the nozzle has the fixed part (1) on one of its sides equipped with an edge (5), which is attached to the fixed part (1) and serves as the stationary part of weft shears, while the movable part (2) of the filling nozzle consists of a movable arm with a fastened movable edge (4), making it the movable part (2) of said weft shears.
