The invention relates to a radiation-attenuating elastomer material, of the type including an elastomer containing a dispersion of metal oxide powder, which is characterised in that the metal oxide powder includes 70 to 90 wt% of bismuth trioxide, 5 to 15 wt% of tungsten trioxide and 5 to 15 wt% of lanthanum trioxide. The invention also relates to the use of said elastomer material for manufacturing personal protective garments against ionising radiation. The invention further relates to a multi-layer glove for protecting against ionising radiation in which at least one layer is made from said elastomer material, as well as to the use of said glove for protection against the ionising radiation emitted by nuclear fuel powder, in particular containing plutonium. The invention can be used in the nuclear industry for handling nuclear fuel powder as well as in medical imaging, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, treatment of plastic materials, inspection and testing of manufactured parts, etc.

A non-support type disposable glove is disclosed in which an ash content after combustion is 0.6% by weight or less. A method for producing the non-support type disposable glove is also disclosed, which adjusts the ash content after combustion to 0.6% by weight or less by a dipping method of a polyurethane emulsion using an aqueous coagulant solution having a concentration of 15% by weight or less. The non-support type disposable glove of the present invention is not only excellent in workability, sufficient in strength, small in calorific value and carbon dioxide diacharge even when it is combusted, but also is small in incinerated ash so that the incinerated ash can be readily controlled.

A composite material which comprises an elastomer or vulcanized rubber and particles of a high-density material, such as tungsten, evenly dispersed therein, wherein the contents of the elastomer or vulcanized rubber and the high-density particles are 35 to 50 vol. % and 50 to 65 vol. %, respectively, based on the whole composite material, and the high-density particles have a particle composition comprising 60 to 80 vol.% coarse particles having a particle diameter of 10 to 100 mu m, 10 to 20 vol.% medium particles having a particle diameter of 3 to 6 mu m, and 10 to 20 vol.% fine particles having a particle diameter of 1 to 2 mu m, the spaces among the coarse particles being filled with the medium particles and fine particles. The composite material is excellent in flexibility and processability and is suitable for use as a radiation-shielding sheet material, weight member, vibration-damping material, balancing member, radiating material, and shot material.

There is provided a neutron shielding material which has heat resistance and has ensured neutron shielding performance even in a high-temperature environment during storage of a spent nuclear fuel for high burnup. A neutron shielding material having improved heat resistance and ensured neutron shielding performance due to the absence of an amine curing agent is provided by a neutron shielding material composition comprising a polymerization initiator, a polymerization component, a density increasing agent and a boron compound. As the polymerization component of the present invention, an epoxy component and an oxetane component are particularly preferably used.
