    摘要: A connector terminal (22) in a cardiac stimulator for receiving a connector pin of an associated lead includes a hollow box member (32) having opposite end walls (42) defining a first bore (46) for receipt of the connector pin. A ring member (34) movably disposed within the box member defines a second bore (64) generally aligned with the first bore for also receiving the connector pin. A threaded neck (60) connected to the ring member extends perpendicular to the second bore and is received within a through bore of the box member that is disposed perpendicular to the first bore. An internally threaded cap (24) threadedly engages the threaded neck and bears in a thrust bearing relationship on the box portion. As the cap is rotated, the ring portion is drawn upwardly as the cap presses downwardly on the box portion, causing the second bore to be moved transversely out of alignment with the first bore. A connector pin received through both first and second bores is clamped therebetween and retained against axial withdrawal from the connector terminal.

    摘要: A series of test signals are generated by a microprocessor (10) of a pacemaker to determine whether a bipolar or unipolar lead is attached to an implanted cardiac pacemaker restricting programming of said pacemaker to only an unipolar pacing mode unless the presence of an operational bipolar lead is detected. Detection is accomplished by generating a series of low frequency high impedance pulses, applying them to lead contacts and sensing a return signal. If a return signal is detected, then that indicates either a unipolar lead is connected to the pacemaker or that the ring conductor of a bipolar lead is open and bipolar pacing must be inhibited.

    摘要: An implantable cardiac stimulator for detecting and treating cardiac arrhythmias includes a sense amplifier (25) responsive to sensed cardiac signals for detecting and distinguishing normal and abnormal cardiac activity within the sensed signals. The sense amplifier includes an automatic gain control amplifier (60), a filter (70) and quad comparator (80) having a pair of signal channels for processing the sensed signals according to different frequency bandpass characteristics to establish sensing thresholds, margins and signal gain. The sense amplifier has a feedback loop (65) containing a microprocessor (68) which implements preselected algorithms in conjunction with the outputs of the quad comparator to variably adjust the amplifier gain and to programmably control the sensing margin.
