For the purpose of carrying out the butt-end joining of two lengths (35, 36) of a rubberized fabric, in particular, reinforced with cords disposed parallelly at the edge to be jointed, there is foreseen a stitching device (1) which comprises two superimposed pairs of frusto-conical rollers (26,27; 20,21) having their lateral surfaces tangent to the very same horizontal plane, and opposing pairs of rollers (26,21; 27,20) in the vertical plane, with their axes of rotation being symmetrically inclined, with respect to the tern of planes comprised by a first horizontal plane (h-h), or the resting plane for the lengths to be jointed, by a second vertical plane (m-m) that contains the seam-line of said lengths, and by a third vertical plane, orthogonal to both the two above-said planes. Owing to the inclination of the axes, the pairs of the vertically opposite rollers grasp each border (E, U) of the lengths to be jointed, on both the surfaces, in correspondence of a narrow transversal portion of said fabric. Thereupon, they take said narrow transversal portion of the border, and press it against the facing border, with shifting said narrow portion progressively and with continuity, along the entire length of the seam-line.

The invention concerns a tread-pattern of the directional type, for automobile tyres that are intended for high-powered vehicles and for exacting conditions of usage - because of the great accelerations used and the very high speeds reached during driving, even when cornering. The tread-pattern is constituted by a plurality of small blocks (5) having a substantially rhomboidal form, disposed in at least six circumferential rows and separated, one from the other, by straight circumferential grooves (1) and by oblique transversal grooves (2,3,4), with the grooves of the two assietly innermost rows, disposed astride of the mid-plane, being inclined in the contrary sense in each row - both, with respect to the next row, as well as with respect to the oblique grooves of the other remaining rows disposed in the same mid-plane as the tread-band.

A device (1) for cutting the end from a tire tread strip (3) having at least one cutting unit (4,22). When there are two cutting units (4,22) they may be positioned at a desired distance from each other and arranged for simultaneously cutting the opposite ends of a tread strip (3) arranged on a workbench (2,23). Each cutting unit (4,22) comprises a heated blade (5) which extends through a slit (11) in a transverse direction in the workbench (2,23) and moveable horizontally along the slit (11) itself in order to cut the tread strip (3) in a transverse sense. During the execution of the cut the tread strip (3) is held against the workbench (2,23) by means of a plate-like fastening element (14) which extends in a direction parallel to the slit (11) and very close to it. To the blade (5) there are connected a pressure roller (17) and a pressure sphere (18), one on each side of the cut, which operate in an elastic pushing relationship against the top of the tread strip (3) with the pressure sphere (18) moving between the tread strip (3) and the plate-like fastening element (14), to produce a pressure localized on the tread strip (3) itself in the vicinity of the cutting edge (5a) of the blade (5).

Roller table is described comprising a front supporting group (5) and a rear supporting group (8) defining respectively a front sliding surface and a rear sliding surface longitudinally aligned. A bearing bar (11), on which lifting levers (19) are pivoted, is secured to the rear supporting group, said levers being mutually placed side by side and bearing in a rotatable manner ancillary rollers (13) at the respective upper ends. Each lifting lever is provided in the lower part with a feeler pin (17) engaged in a sliding manner along a guiding groove (16) obtained in a guiding bar (15) integral with the front supporting group. The guiding groove (16) is shaped in such a way that when the front and rear supporting groups are moved away the one from the other, the ancillary rollers (13) are lifted one by one and the one after the other and led to the level of the front and rear sliding surfaces to support a product, during its working, in the portion comprised between the spaced sliding surfaces.

For rendering the centripetal type of moulds to be easily mountable and dismountable, from a corresponding vulcanizing press, by utilizing automatic devices, the matrix (3) of the sectors (4) are blocked on the corresponding supports, by a bayonet type of device (10) mounted on the support, that is shifted from its blocked position, to a non-interference position with the matrix, by simply rotating it around its own axis, whilst the two cheeks (1, 2), fixed to the frame of the press, also fixed by bayonet connections, and the corresponding crown of sectors, with a shut mould, result as being interconnected with one another, so much so that the mould unit in its entire whole, can be shifted by acting just upon at least two diametrically opposed dies.
