    摘要: An electrical machine (10) includes a component (12) such as a rotor or a stator with slots (14) formed therein in which are located conductors (16), the mouth of each slot (14) having a dovetail (18) formed therealong. The conductors (16) are retained in the slots (14) by slot wedges (20) each of which comprises an intermediate member (22) having lateral cam surfaces (26) thereon and a pair of side members (24) each having first and second lateral cam surfaces (30,32) thereon. The cam surfaces (26,30,32) are so shaped that, on location of the wedge (20) in a dovetail (18) and on movement of the intermediate member (22) relative to the side members (24) longitudinally of the slot (14) to wedge the side members (24) in the dovetail (18) and to wedge the intermediate member (22) between the side members (24), the intermediate member (22) is forced inwardly of the slot (14) relative to the side members (24) to impose a load on the conductors (16) thereby retaining them in the slot (14).

    摘要: A classifier has a rotor 14, driven by motor 15, mounted between two opposed walls 32, 34 of housing 10. The housing 10 also has a curved wall 30 which extends between the walls 32, 34 and around the rotor 14 to define therewith an annular zone 50. A fluid and finer particles outlet opening 20 is provided in one of the walls 32, 34. The curved wall 30 has an inlet opening (16) for at least fluid and fluid and coarser particles outlet opening (18) which is registered with the inlet opening of a receptacle 12 from which the coarser particles can be removed. A plate 56 is located immediately upstream of the outlet opening (18) to divert particles adjacent to the curved wall 30 away therefrom. Similar diverting means can be located remote from the plate 56 such as plate 58 or secondary air inlet openings (64). Baffle rings 60, 62 are provided concentrically with the rotor 14 to restrain particles forced to the outer peripheries of the annular zone 50 from moving inwardly towards the rotor 14.

    摘要: A valve assembly for closing an inlet (6) into a housing (2) through which powdery or granular material is flowing and for sealing said inlet (6) once closed, the assembly comprising a closure member (26, 28) movable within the housing (2) from an inoperative position in which the inlet (6) is open into a normal operative position closing said inlet (6), during which movement a deformable sealing ring (16) mounted in the housing (2) to surround the inlet (6) wipes over, to clean, the closing surface of the closure member (26,28) and to make initial sealing contact with the closure member (26,28). Inflation of the sealing ring (16) against the closure member (26,28) in its normal operative position then supplements the seal while, on subsequent pressurisation of the interior of the housing (2), the closure member (26,28) is displaced bodily within the housing (2) axially towards the inlet (6) to make increased contact with, to supplement further the seal with, the sealing ring (16).
