    摘要: There is described a multi-channel encoder (10) for processing input signals (300, 310, 320, 330, 340) conveyed in N input channels to generate corresponding output signals (480, 490) conveyed in M output channels together with complementary parametric data (370, 430, 450); M and N are integers wherein N>M. The encoder (10) includes a down-mixer for down-mixing the input signals (30, 310, 320, 330, 340) to generate the corresponding output signals (480, 490), the encoder also comprising an analyser for processing the input signals (300, 310, 320, 330, 340) to generate the parameter data (370, 430, 450), said parametric data describing mutual differences between the N channels of input signal to allow for regenerating during decoding one or more of the N channels of input signals from the M channels of output signal. Such an encoder (10) is capable of providing highly efficient data encoding and also of being backwards compatibility with relatively simpler decoders having fewer than N decoding output channels. The invention also concerns decoders compatible with such a multi-channel.

    摘要: A decoder particularly, but not exclusively, for MPEG-1 layer III data signals, in which recovered spectral coefficients are transformed into time domain signal components, the time domain signal components then being transformed, using a forward transform which is orthogonally modulated with respect to the forward transform that was used at the encoder, to produce a set of second spectral coefficients. In this way, the first and second spectral coefficients may be used as complex-valued spectral coefficients which are amenable to post­-processing. In the preferred embodiment, the complex-valued frequency components are, after post-processing, transformed to the time domain using an odd-frequency modulated Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT).

    摘要: In the method of coding the audio signal, the values of first parameters (P1,1), which represent aspects of the audio signal at a first instant (ti), are calcul ated to obtain first calculated values (Al,i). The values of second parameters P2,i), which represent the aspects of the audio signal at a second, later, instant (t2), are calculated to obtain the second calculated values (A2,i). The number of the first parameters (Pl,i) and the number of the second parameters (P2,i) differ. A subset (SUS2,i) of the second parameters (P2,i) is associated with a particular portion (SFRAi) of a frequency range (FR) of the audio signal This frequency range (FR) of the audio signal is preferably selected to cover all the f requencies present in the audio signal. The values (A2,i) of the subset (SUS2,i) of the second parameters (P2,i) are coded based on a difference of this subset (SUS2,i) and a subset (SUS1,i) of the first calculated value(s) (Al,i) associate d with substantially this same particular portion (SFRAi) of the frequency range (FR). Thus the differentially coded values (7) of the second parameters (P2,i) are obtained by coding the difference of the values of second parameters (P2,i and first parameters (P1,i) which are associated with substantially the same frequency subrange (SFRAi). This allows to differential code the parameters (Pl,I P2,i) even if the number of the parameters changes in time.

    摘要: According to a first aspect of the invention, at least part of an audio signal is coded in order to obtain an encoded signal, the coding comprising predictive coding the at least part of the audio signal in order to obtain prediction coefficients which represent temporal properties, such as a temporal envelope, of the at least part of the audio signal, transforming the prediction coefficients into a set of times representing the prediction coefficients, and including the set of times in the encoded signal. Especially the use of a time domain derivative or equivalent of the Line Spectral Representation is advantageous in coding such prediction coefficients, because with this technique times or time instants are well defined which makes them more suitable for further encoding. For overlapping frame analysis/synthesis for the temporal envelope, redundancy in the Line Spectral Representation at the overlap can be exploited. Embodiments of the invention exploit this redundancy in an advantageous manner.
