The combiner also determines a new estimate of the sleep clock frequency using at least one of the weighted sleep clock frequency estimate and the weighted estimate of the change in frequency of the sleep clock. Complementary methods are also disclosed.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for constructing a pilot symbol for a communication frame transmitted in a wireless communication system, such as an OFDM system, are disclosed. In particular, the methods and apparatus generate at least one pseudo-random noise sequence having at least a predetermined length, where the at least one pseudo-random noise sequence represents a system configuration of a wireless system. A time domain symbol sequence is modulated with the at least one pseudo-random noise sequence to create a timing acquisition pilot symbol. The modulated acquisition pilot symbol is further masked to a prescribed frequency profile and placed in a frame for wireless transmission. Accordingly, different system configurations can be communicated from a transmitter to a receiver with the acquisition pilot symbol modulated with correspondingly different pseudo-random noise sequences, while affording low complexity required to process the acquisition pilot symbol and a minimum peak to average power ratio when using QPSK modulation.

    摘要: Apparatus and methods for estimating the frequency of a sleep or slow clock using a fast clock, such as a temperature compensated crystal oscillator. The disclosed apparatus include an estimator having a first counter that receives sleep clock synchronized pulses issuing each cycle of the sleep clock period, yet are synchronized to a fast clock. The slow clock synchronized pulses are counted up to a predetermined number; whereupon a full count signal is issued. A second counter receives the full count signal and increments each time the full count signal is received. A third counter counts fast clock cycles until the full count signal occurs. Based on the number of counts of the slow and fast clock cycles, the frequency of the slow clock may be determined using only the domain of the fast clock for performing the measurement thereby tying accuracy of the measurement to the accuracy of the fast clock. The disclosed apparatus also include an integrated circuit and a transceiver employing the disclosed estimator. Corresponding methods are also disclosed.

As the location of the device moves relative to the transmitters, one transmitter will likely be identified as the transmitter broadcast the strongest, or highest quality, signal.     摘要: Methods and apparatus for including mode information in a wireless transmission frame, which is useful for system acquisition. In particular, a first information bit is provided in a preamble of a transmission frame, where the bit is configured to indicate that a wireless communication system is operating according to either a time division duplex (TDD) mode or a frequency division duplex (FDD) mode. The addition of a single bit minimally affects the resources of the preamble. Additionally, another bit resource already present in the preamble for normally communicating whether FDD transmissions are full duplex or half-duplex transmissions, may be further allocated to indicate partitioning information concerning TDD mode transmissions when the first bit indicates TDD mode, thus affording additional information communicated in the frame without increasing preamble resources.
