A forming apparatus having a degree of freedom in shaping for forming a three-dimensional structure is provided. A forming apparatus (30) forms a three-dimensional structure (5), which includes a shaped article and a colored portion that colors a surface of the shaped article, by layering layers, and it can switch between a first operation mode dedicated to shaping the shaped article and a second operation mode of full-color coloring the surface of the shaped article using full colors simultaneously as the shaping of the shaped article.

Examples disclosed herein relate to determining a manufacturing batch. In one implementation, the manufacturing batch relates to 3D printing. A processor may determine component parts of a product that. In one implementation, a processor determines a batch of the component parts related to different products based on a comparison to other potential batches.

The present disclosure makes it possible to appropriately shape a three-dimensional object with high precision. A three-dimensional object shaping apparatus (10) of the present disclosure for shaping a three-dimensional object includes: inkjet heads (202) that discharge ink droplets using an ink jet method; a shaping platform (18) that is a platform-shaped member on which the three-dimensional object (50) being shaped is supported at a position facing the inkjet heads (202); a main scanning driver (20) that causes the inkjet heads (202) to perform a main scanning operation in which ink droplets are discharged while moving relative to the shaping platform in a pre-set main scanning direction; and an airflow generator (206) that generates airflows that flow from the inkjet heads (202) toward the shaping platform (18).

A method of forming a three-dimensional object is carried out by: (a) providing a carrier and an optically transparent member having a build surface, the carrier and the build surface defining a build region therebetween; (b) filling the build region with a polymerizable liquid, the polymerizable liquid including a mixture of (i) a light polymerizable liquid first component, and (ii) a second solidifiable component that is different from the first component; (c) irradiating the build region with light through the optically transparent member to form a solid polymer scaffold from the first component and also advancing the carrier away from the build surface to form a three-dimensional intermediate having the same shape as, or a shape to be imparted to, the three-dimensional object, and containing the second solidifiable component carried in the scaffold in unsolidified and/or uncured form; and (d) concurrently with or subsequent to the irradiating step, solidifying and/or curing the second solidifiable component in the three-dimensional intermediate to form the three-dimensional object.

A printing method using a low melting-point material is disclosed. The method first controls a nozzle (3) of a 3D printer to move to a position corresponding to an internal-contour (41) of a 3D model for printing the internal-contour (41) upon a printing platform (31), then controls the nozzle (3) to move to other position corresponding to an exterior-contour (42) of the 3D model for printing the exterior-contour (42). After completing the exterior-contour (42), the method controls the nozzle (3) to move inwardly to leave away from the exterior-contour (42), and then changes a related position between the nozzle (3) and the printing platform (31) upon z-axis for a next printing-layer (4). The method prevents a drooling event of the low melting-point material occurs at the exterior-contour (42) and destroys an appearance of the 3D model.

A method is provided for additive manufacturing. This method includes monitoring a current to a recoater blade. The monitored current is compared to a predetermined current. An operation is initiated in response to the monitored current exceeding the predetermined current. Another method for additive manufacturing includes comparing a movement of a recoater blade to an expected movement. A single exposure sequence is initiated in response to movement of the recoater blade being different than an expected movement. An additive manufacturing system is also provided which includes a recoated blade and a control. The control is operable to identify resistance to movement of the recoater blade.
