The invention relates to a worm-like operating mechanism (1) which can be both pivoted and stretched in all directions. It consists of at least three actuators (2) which each consist of a series of pockets or cushions positioned one behind the other. Via one inlet channel each said pockets or cushions can be filled with a gaseous or liquid pressure medium. Depending on the filling level correspondingly voluminous cushions are formed which push each other apart. Since the actuators (2) can be filled and emptied independently of each other the free end of the operating mechanism can be continuously pivoted and stretched to any point of a structurally specified mushroom-type moving element. A mechanical or fluidic anchoring device (13) in the proximal area makes it possible to fix said operating mechanism in almost any work site.

The goal is reached by execution of an elastic envelope containing at least one cross-section, a perimeter length of which one differs from a perimeter length of a cross-section that coincides with a thread of the lateral reinforcement. Thus the elastic envelope is covered at least by one, oriented concerning to envelope axes, closed layer of an elastic material with expressed antifriction properties, for example of polyamide or capron. And even one thread of a longitudinal reinforcement is arranged above an external surface of the given layer with fomation of contradirectional, including closed, circular helixes with a demanded step. Thus the interval of arrangement of threads of the lateral reinforcement is nonconstant along the axis of a mechanical muscle.

The electrostatic electrodes may comprise a plurality of electrostatic electrodes arranged in a pattern to cause a predetermined change in the active surface. The invention relates to a method for the production of flat pneumatic and fluid micromanipulators in the prior art, micromanipulators are produced from three-dimensional components by a production process operating in three-dimensions. This technology allows, for example, the production of tubular manipulators for neurosurgery which can only have diameters of approximately 2-5 mm, only a restricted range of movement with up to three degrees-of-freedom. The movement mechanism is produced in the form of a plane. The base material is sheeting. At least two or a plurality of sheets are superimposed in layers and connected to each other to form a plane, thereby producing chambers and channels. The form of the resulting planes can be different and said planes may, in turn, be superimposed in layers and connected to each other to produce a complex moving apparatus.
