Abstract:
A drip resistant dispensing valve for fluids is disclosed, which provides a dispensing outlet configured to minimize the tendency for fluid to drip from the valve following a dispensing operation. The dispensing outlet exhibits curved interior surfaces and a curved outlet face construction; the face situated a distance away from the valve body. Such construction assists in minimizing the retention of fluid on the surfaces of the dispensing outlet, and migration of the fluid to surfaces outside of the dispensing outlet that could tend to promote growth of biological contaminates and/or provide additional surfaces that could pool fluid following a dispensing operation and thereafter drip from the valve. A shell is provided around the dispensing outlet to assist in avoiding contamination of the valve and of the fluid being dispensed through the valve, and to aid in positioning a receptacle for receiving fluid from the dispensing valve.
Abstract:
An apparatus (1) for preparing a beverage suitable for consumption such as coffee on the basis of a hot liquid such as water provided with a storage tank (2), a heater (4) and a three-way valve (7). The three-way valve (7) is provided with an inlet (8), a first outlet (10) and a second outlet (12). The pump (6) is in fluid communication with the storage tank (2) and an inlet (5) of the heater (4). There is a fluid communication between the outlet (14) of the heater (4) and the inlet (8) of the three-way valve (7), between the first outlet (10) and the storage tank (2) and/or an inlet of the pump (6) and between the second outlet (12) and a beverage preparing unit (22) for preparing the beverage suitable for consumption on the basis of the hot liquid. The three-way valve (7) is provided with a first member (26) which is freely movable between a first (26A) and second extreme position (26B) wherein the first member (26) can move under the influence of the liquid flow from the inlet (8) to the first outlet (10) and/or the second outlet (12) from the first extreme position (26A) towards the second extreme position (26B) and in the second extreme position (26B) closes off the first outlet (10) so that the liquid flow then extends from the inlet (8) to the second outlet (12). The three-way valve (7) is further provided with a second member (30) which is freely moveable under the influence of a liquid flow from the inlet (8) to the second outlet (12) between a third (30A) and fourth extreme position (30B) wherein the second member (30), under the influence of the liquid flow from the inlet (8) to the second outlet (12), moves from the third extreme position (30A) to the fourth extreme position (30B) and in the third extreme position (30A) blocks a liquid flow from the second outlet (12) in the direction of the inlet (8).
Abstract:
An improved fluid dispenser specially adapted to provide sample-size amounts of a fluid mixture is shown and described. An automated closure and seal system is provided for the manifold that moves, on command from a controller, from a closed or sealed position thereby limiting exposure of the manifold and fluid outlet nozzles from the ambient atmosphere, to a dispense system where a sample-size container is held up against and engaging a lower end of the manifold for a sealing element disposed on a lower portion of the manifold. When the dispense is complete, the system automatically moves back toward a closed position where the filled container is held open and ready to be removed by a technician before it is capped and labeled. An improved shelving system is also provided for housing a large quantity of different ingredients conveniently within a relatively compact cabinet thereby making the system suitable for a retail environment. An improved method of preparing a sample quantity of a fluid mixture is also disclosed.
