Information encoded in a carrier signal comprising a modulation pattern superimposed on a grid frequency at which electricity flows in a synchronous area of an electric power grid, is decoded by measuring, at a receiving device, a characteristic relating to a frequency of electricity flowing in the electric power grid, accessing data indicative of one or more predetermined code patterns and performing a correlation process to determine a correlation between the modulation pattern and one of the one or more predetermined code patterns. The information is decoded on the basis of the determined correlation. This enables information to be easily transmitted within a synchronous area of the electric power grid.

The present invention relates to a method in a direct conversion receiver for estimating and removing DC offset, said direct conversion receiver being arranged to receive radio communication signals in a wireless communication system, the method comprising the steps of: receiving and down sampling time domain signals, wherein said time domain signals comprise at least one first synchronisation signal; estimating a residual DC offset &Dgr;d based on said at least one first synchronisation signal; computing a refined DC offset estimation d̃ based on said estimated residual DC offset &Dgr;d; and applying said refined DC offset estimation d̃ on said time domain signals so as to remove DC offset from said time domain signals. A radio resource allocation method in a communication node is disclosed. The method comprises determining (424) that a first time reference or a first communication using a first component carrier has a time shift compared to a second time reference of a second communication using a second component carrier. The method further comprises determining (426) a duration of a communication sub-frame based on the time shift, and scheduling (428) the determined communication sub-frame on a first component carrier to a first communication device. The determined frame duration is equal to the time shift or equal to the normal sub-frame length minus the time shift so as to avoid any overlap or interference. Corresponding computer program product, arrangement, communication node and first communication device are also disclosed.
