Abstract:
This invention completes an authentication procedure early when it is ready to directly communicate with a printer, and serves as a user interface device of a direct print system. To this end, when a digital camera DSC is ready to directly communicate with a printer, and receives from the printer an inquiry about objects stored and held by the camera, it assigns an object which contains a word serving as authentication information of those stored and held in the DSC to a first handler (S52), assigns other objects (image data and the like) to subsequent handlers (S53), and sends that assignment result to the printer (S54).
Abstract:
A communication apparatus includes a registering part, a paper feeder, an information storing part, a selector, a recording part, and a recording controller. The registering part registers information of communication apparatuses to communicate with beforehand. The paper feeder includes a plurality of paper feed stages selectively feeding recording paper, at least one of the paper feed stages having recording paper different in color or material from the recording paper placed on the other paper feed stages. The information storing part stores information specifying the paper feed stage allocated for outputting a communication report for each of the communication apparatuses. The selector selects the specified paper feed stage. The recording part records information on the recording paper. The recording controller carries out a control to record by the recording part the communication report on the recording paper placed on the selected paper feed stage, when a communication error occurs or the communication is completed.
Abstract:
This invention concerns a communication apparatus having ringing signal distinguishing means for distinguishing a pattern of ringing signal from a communication line, characterized in that it comprises: memory means for storing communication result information including information relating to a data communication and information relating to a pattern of ringing signal; control means for associating the information relating to the ringing signal pattern distinguished by said ringing signal distinguishing means with the information relating to the data communication to be performed in detection of the ringing signal, and for storing both the information in said memory means.
Abstract:
When image data is transmitted from a digital camera (DSC) to a PD printer apparatus and printed, the PD printer apparatus transmits its Capability to the DSC. The DSC restricts the setting items of a UI screen displayed on the display to functions of the PD printer apparatus in accordance with Capability, and displays the items.
Abstract:
A digital camera has a memory for recording function and environment of the camera upon every use thereof, or delivery of the camera to users. The memory is kept without deletion to be a history of the camera. The memory cannot be used by the user, but is take out of the camera upon its recycle for transferring the memory to a database or to a site of designing new cameras. The memory should be taken out on the authorization of the user. If the memory includes name, address, custom settings, user contract, password, or the like, such memory may be transferred to a new camera of the same user on demand. Used camera can be conveniently returned at a site where commodities irrelevant to cameras are sold, which may prevent illegal disposal of cameras.
Abstract:
A method of informing destination node of the processed result from a facsimile equipment or a printing device comprising the steps of extracting the electronic mail address of the node from facsimile data or prints received from an originating node through a LAN, detecting the processed results of the facsimile equipment or printing device, and transmitting the detected processed results to the electronic mail address of the destination node.
Abstract:
An image commercial transactions system and method that are able to implement the sales to the purpose of the seller. An e-commerce system for selling a picture and a handling condition specific to the picture, both being recorded on a predetermined recording medium in a predetermined format. The picture to be sold and the handling condition are accepted by an acceptor in a digital format. When a transaction is established, an accounting company carries out an accounting electronically for a purchaser of the data of the picture and the e-commerce condition, thereby both of the picture to be sold and the handling condition are sold as digital data so that the purchased picture is used in a handling manner as intended by the seller. Consequently, the selling of the picture can be made so as to satisfy the intention of the seller.
Abstract:
The network facsimile apparatus switches a status icon registered in a structured document for displaying a status icon, corresponding to a status change, while transmits the structured document corresponding to a request from a client, thereby enabling the client to observe the latest status icon in homepage format.
Abstract:
The present invention is to allow display based on the setting positions of devices in selection of a desired device to be used, and facilitate selection considering the setting positions of the devices. The present invention can also display equipments so as to allow discrimination between an equipment included in an image processing apparatus and an equipment connected on a communication line. Equipments in a network environment are placed on the first floor (1F), the second floor (2F), and the third floor (3F) in a building and connected through a network (LAN 1300). For example, a computer (1310) collects device information including status information and setting position information from usable input/output devices. For example, status information representing "BUSY" and setting position information representing "3F-B block" are transferred from a virtual optical scanner (1302). The computer (1310) displays the connected input/output devices together with the setting position information obtained from the devices. An image processing apparatus (100) has various input/output devices including a reader unit (1), a printer unit (2), and an image input/output control unit (3). In addition, various input/output equipments (two optical scanner devices (1302, 1303) and three facsimile transmission/reception devices (1305, 1306, 1307)) are connected to the image processing apparatus (100) through a LAN interface unit (9) and the LAN (1300). A CPU (123) of a core unit (10) manages the input/output equipments to determine whether they are connected through the network. When a desired input/output equipment is to be selected, whether the input/output equipments are connected through the network is explicitly indicated.
Abstract:
When a print of a picture image is ordered by generating print ordering information comprising electronic data in a predetermined standard to be processed by a predetermined photo finishing system, the print ordering information is generated by considering the content of the services that a service provider or a laboratory where the order is placed can provide so that the service will be provided with certainty. Picture image data obtained by reading a developed film are recorded in a recording medium together with printing service information regarding printing services. In print ordering information generation processing on the image data, the printing service information and the image data recorded in the recording medium are displayed on an order screen and print ordering information for requesting a printing service regarding the image data is generated by using the displayed printing service information.
