The invention relates to a system and method for measuring a physical quantity wirelessly, with a emitter and a passive receiver. On the emitter side, the system comprises an RFID emitter in communication with the RFID receiver. On the receiver side, the system comprises an RFID receiver module, energy storage means supplied by the receiver module, a monitoring module for monitoring the stored energy, a microcontroller module with analog-to-digital conversion means, a measurement module, and an enabling module for enabling the microcontroller module. By means of the monitoring module, the system is adapted to taking periodic measurements only when requested, such that even though peak consumptions are relatively high while taking the measurement, mean consumption remains at values that are low enough to supply the measurement module with the energy stored in the energy storage means without requiring any auxiliary energy source.

A battery generates a power supply voltage for supplying the control unit, the measuring circuit and the transmission system. A voltage regulating system (14, 15,16) is operatively connected to the control unit (7), to the battery and to the charging pack and it is controlled by the control unit (7) such that it regulates the charging of the charging pack (13). A method for transmitting gas consumption measurements made by a gas meter of the static type is also described.

Certain embodiments herein are directed to transferring information between devices on a network 110 using a filing system such as the WebDAV file system. In one embodiment, a sensor device 102 may communicate with a computer server 104 including a WebDAV file system to obtain information for various purposes, such as for software upgrades or resolution of software bugs. The computer server 104 may receive data from a sensor 102 associated with a home, business, or power generation equipment, or other asset. The computer server 104 may further prepare the data for transmission to a filing system, which may include calling one or more WebDAV functions. The data may be used to determine additional data that may be used be the computer device that sent the data, in one embodiment. The data, as well as the additional data, may be stored in a WebDAV file system and/or transmitted to a remote computing device.
