The present invention relates to a filtering circuit comprising at least two slot line resonators (R1, R2) arranged side by side and realised on a dielectric substrate having a first face equipped with a conductive layer and a second parallel face, each of said at least two resonators comprising a slot line (3) etched in the conductive layer and folded according to a spiral pattern counting a plurality of turns, with a shape factor such that the slot line has parts noticeably parallel or concentric. According to embodiments of the invention, at least one turn of the spiral pattern of each of the resonators comprises at least one discontinuity (10), the discontinuities of said at least two slot line resonators being arranged in such a manner as to increase the electromagnetic coupling between said at least two slot line resonators.

The apparatus comprises an antenna for sending and receiving electromagnetic waves a circuit for detecting microwave signals and the signalization stage for generating an indication signal. In addition to that a method for detecting the presence of microwave signals is proposed. The method comprises the following steps - receiving and detecting the microwave signal; - correlating the received microwave signal with the previously stored microwave signal; - generating an indication signal if the correlation between the received and the stored microwave signals exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

According to the invention, each one of the first and second conductive layers comprises a PIFA resonating in specific frequency band. The PIFAs are cascaded in order to achieve a compact antenna. The first PIFA comprises a first radiating element (30), a first feed element (31) connected to said first radiating element and a first ground return element (32) and the second PIFA comprises a second radiating element (20), a second feed element (21) connected to said second radiating element and a second ground return element (22). The apparatus further comprises a modulation frequency correlator and a signal generator for generating an indication signal. According to a second aspect the present invention proposes a method for detecting the operation status of a fluorescent light source. The method comprises the steps of: - receiving an electromagnetic wave; - detecting a modulation of the received electromagnetic wave; - correlating the modulation frequency of the received electromagnetic wave with a predetermined frequency; - generating an indication signal if a correlation between the modulation frequency and the predetermined frequency is detected.
