    摘要： There is provided a recording apparatus that is provided with an ink tube and integrally includes a recording unit and a scanner unit while considering reduction of a height and maintenance of a recording function of the apparatus. A printer includes a recording unit and a scanner unit that is capable of opening and closing the upper portion of the recording unit. The recording unit includes an ink tube that guides the ink sent from an ink tank to the head unit and has flexibility, and a control section that performs recording on the medium by controlling the head unit when detecting a depressed state of a switch and does not perform the recording when detecting a non-depressed state of the switch, based on a state of the depressible switch that is provided in the upper portion of the recording unit. The switch is in the depressed state in a state where a gap which has a size that does not block at least an ink flow passage on the inside of the ink tube and through which the ink tube passes is formed between the recording unit and the scanner unit.

    摘要： An ink jet printer mechanism is disclosed in which a print receiving medium is supported in a clamp (18) in a printing station (16) and a print head (41) is traversed through the printing station. A service station (23) for the print head is provided adjacent the printing station and the print head is traversed to the service station between printing operations. The service station includes a carriage (25) which is movable by a drive motor (28) to bring capping and wiping elements (30, 29) into engagement with the print head. A mechanical linkage (33) from the carriage opens the clamp when the capping element is aligned for engagement with the print head.

    摘要： A thermal transfer printer comprises a flat tray (11) supported to reciprocate between an advancing limit position and a retreating limit position with a sheet (A) placed thereon, a ribbon supply device (19, 20) arranged above the tray (11) for supplying a transfer ink ribbon (B), a heating print head (21), and a moving device (22) for supporting the print head (21) above the tray (11). The moving device (22) causes the print head (21) to move toward the tray (11) for pressing the ink ribbon (B) against the sheet (A) when the tray (11) moves toward the advancing limit position. Further, the moving device (22) further causes the print head (21) to move away from the tray (11) when the tray (11) moves toward the retreating limit position.
