    摘要： A brake device (1) for a vehicle according to one aspect of the present invention includes: a motor (2); a speed reducer (20) configured to receive an output of the motor (2); a conversion mechanism (30) for converting a rotational motion output from the speed reducer (20) into a linear motion; friction members (40A, 40B) configured to receive the linear motion to be pressed against a brake-applied member; a clutch (7) configured to switch between a transmission state in which power transmission is allowed in the power transmission path and a cutoff state in which the power transmission is cut off and a pressing force is retained; a drive control unit (11) for driving the motor (2) in accordance with a brake instruction; and a switching operation control unit (12) configured to switch the clutch (7) from the transmission state to the cutoff state when the motor (2) driven to press the friction members (40A, 40B) against the brake-applied member receives a load exceeding a predetermined level.
