    摘要: In a system for transmitting a binary source signal from a data transmitter to a data receiver through a noisy dispersive channel, the data transmitter comprises a sliding block encoder which converts the binary source signal at a given symbol rate 1/T into an encoded binary data signal at a symbol rate P/TN, where P and N are positive integers such that N/P ≦ ²log(3)/2 + 0.79248. Since the channel introduces intersymbol interference and noise into the encoded data signal, the data receiver comprises the cascade of a equalizer, a sampler and a reconstruction circuit which serves to reconstruct the binary source signal at the symbol rate 1/T. The improved reconstruction circuit consists of a detector in a cascade with a decoder with a decoder with memory, while the equalizer, sampler and detector are arranged for the detection of a ternary data signal at the symbol rate P/(2NT).

    摘要: A surface unit for a sonobuoy or similar device is disclosed includes a variable volume sealed chamber (23) and an arrangement including a pressurized carbon dioxide cartridge (19) within the sealed chamber which, when energized, releases the carbon dioxide and increases the chamber volume from a collapsed volume to an expanded significantly greater volume. Electronic circuitry including radio transmitter circuitry is included within the sealed chamber along with a radio transmitter antenna which is within the sealed chamber and coupled to the radio transmitter circuitry. Expansion of the float sealed chamber functions to erect the antenna preparatory to transmission. The variable volume sealed chamber is formed of a semi-rigid plastic cup (32) having a generally cylindrical corrugated sidewall portion (31), a closed end describing one of the chamber ends and a rigid base member (25) sealed to the cup sidewall portion remote from the closed end and describing the other of the chamber ends. As it expands, cylinder length is directly proportional to cylinder volume.

    摘要: A high-frequency power oscillator comprises a multi-­grid electron tube (5), a current source (3) and a voltage-limiting circuit (4).
    The current source (3) is connected to the screen grid of an electron tube (5) arranged as a tetrode. This limits the screen grid current when the voltage on the anode of the tetrode (5) is momentary lower than the screen grid voltage.
    Between the screen grid and the cathode of the tetrode a voltage-limiting circuit (4) is inserted which starts being conductive above a predetermined threshold value. This forms a limit to the screen grid voltage so that it is possible to operate the tetrode (5) in a pulsating manner. A suitable embodiment of the voltage-limiting circuit (4) comprises a triode (4). The voltage between the grid and the cathode of the triode (4) is set to a constant value by means of a voltage source (2).
