The invention relates to a method for producing a multiple-phase multi-metal oxide material that contains Mo, V, Cu and, optionally, other elements. According to the invention, at least one phase is separately pre-formed and is dispersed in a plastically deformable precursor material of another phase. The mixture is then dried and calcined. The multi-metal oxide material is suited for use as an active material of catalysts for catalytically oxidizing organic compounds in the gas phase, in particular, for oxidizing acrolein into acrylic acid.

The invention relates to a method for the catalytic gas phase oxidation of propene into acrylic acid in which the initial mixture of reaction gas, with an increased propene charge, is oxidized on a first fixed-bed catalyst during a first reaction step, said fixed-bed catalyst being accommodated in two reaction zones A, B arranged in a spatially successive manner, whereby the temperature of reaction zone B is kept at a higher temperature than that of reaction zone A. In addition, the mixture of product gas which contains acrolein and which is of the first reaction step is, under an increase acrolein charge, subsequently oxidized on a second fixed-bed catalyst during a second reaction step. Said second fixed-bed catalyst is accommodated in two successively arranged reaction zones C, D, whereby the temperature of reaction zone D is kept at a higher temperature than that of reaction zone C.
