    摘要: An automated apparatus and method for coating medical devices such as an intravascular stent, are disclosed in the method, a 2-D image of a stent is processed to determine (1) paths along the stent skeletal elements by which a stent secured to a rotating support element can be traversed by a dispenser head whose relative motion with respect to the support element is along the support-element axis, such that some or all of the stent skeletal elements will be traversed (2) the relative speeds of the dispenser head and support element as the dispenser head travels along the paths, and (3), and positions of the dispenser head with respect to a centerline of the stent elements as the dispenser head travels along such paths The rotational speed of the support and relative linear speed of the dispenser are controlled to achieve the desired coating thickness and coating coverage on the upper surfaces, and optionally, the side surfaces, of the stent elements.

While a rotating coating bar (12) is in contact with a lower surface of a web (W), a coating solution is discharged from a coating solution discharging section (15) which is positioned upstream of the coating bar (12) in the running direction of the web (W) toward the lower surface of the web (W), so that a coating solution reservoir (A) is formed upstream of the coating bar (12). When the coating solution is applied to the web (W) via the coating solution reservoir (A), a pressure of the coating solution reservoir A is regulated depending on a running speed of the web (W).

The method includes measuring numerical values of an operating parameter, such as line velocity, material pressure, or material temperature, of the dispensing system to predict a future numerical value of the operating parameter.     摘要: A coating material dispensing system (10) that dispenses coating material onto a substrate (18) in a moving pattern or fiber (20) is provided with a monitor that senses a medium such as sound near the space between the dispensing device nozzle (16) and the substrate (18), and extracts information relating to the pattern motion, and generates a signal representative of characteristics of the motion of the pattern in the space. One or more transducers (38) extract the information, and the extracted information is analyzed, preferably by comparison of a frequency spectrum of the signal with a spectrum of standard signal, to detect deviations in the system operation from desired criteria, and optionally, to control parameters of the system (10). In another embodiment, plural spaced transducers (38) detect the phase or orientation of the moving pattern and remove background noise, by inverting, summing, multiplying, and otherwise combining the signals. The invention is useful for detecting malfunctions of the system components, for real-time closed loop control of the process, and for quality control inspection of dispensing device components during manufacture.

    摘要: A fluid dispensing apparatus is provided with a controller for modifying a tool speed signal from a robot and to generate a corrected signal to the dispenser nozzle flow controller which compensates for non-linear flow characteristics of fluids, such as non-Newtonian adhesive fluids, to maintain uniform bead size as the tool speed varies. The corrected tool speed signal is generated by computing the ideal flow for the tool speed signaled, comparing the computed flow with actual flow data stored in a memory using linear interpolation of data between the stored values, and generating a control signal modified in accordance with the comparison. The stored data is acquired by operation in a calibration mode wherein a series of standard signals is sent to the fluid controller while the actual flow at each signal level is measured and stored in a table. The method of operation corrects non-linear flow phenomena such as the shear-thinning effect.
