The invention relates to a cored filler wire that includes an additive containing calcium silicate CaO.SiO 2 , adapted for treating so-called resulphurized special steel. The invention also relates to a method for making resulphurized steel using the above cored filler wire. The method of the invention is particularly adapted for treating solid inclusions present in aluminium-containing steel baths. The method of the invention can be used for preventing desulphurisation before the treating of the solid inclusions.

The sloughable sleeve may have a channel through which an additive may be delivered, and the sloughable sleeve may reside in the through-hole of the durable sleeve and may be secured to the durable sleeve. When molten metal contacts the sloughable sleeve, the sloughable sleeve burns or melts and sloughs off, thereby preventing the molten metal and slag from sticking to the end-piece, which in turn prevents buildup of metal and slag.

The invention concerns a flux-cored wire for introducing additives into a molten metal bath comprising a metal sheath (5) containing an additive (6), which metal sheath is covered with an envelope (7) which, being combustible but without unwanted residues, momentarily delays heat propagation towards the flux-cored wire core.
