摘要: A breakaway guardrail post includes upper and lower post sections (12, 14) spaced apart but connected by a breakaway joint (16). The joint is attached at one end to the upper post section (12) by a first fastener set (20) and connected at a second end by a second fastener set (24). The first fastener set (20) has a failure strength less than that of the second fastener set (24). Upon impact forces being applied to the upper post section, the first fastener fails and the upper post section (12) rotates downwardly.

摘要: A breakaway support post (18, 210) is provided for a highway guardrail system (10) to enhance the safety of a vehicle impacting with either the rail face of the associated guardrail (16) or one end of the guardrail facing oncoming traffic. The breakaway support post may have upper and lower portions (26, 28) with a releasable coupling assembly (29, 211) disposed therebetween to maintain the upper and lower portions generally aligned with each other prior to the impact of a vehicle with one end of the associated guardrail. The breakaway support post may also have releasable coupling assembly (301) disposed between the upper and lower portions and a cable (303). The releasable coupling assembly may allow the upper portion to separate from the lower portion.

摘要: The invention concerns a pole, terminal or the like (1) formed by an anchoring post (2) and a vertical member (4), in particular a tube, said anchoring post and vertical member being linked together by a linking piece (12) with a zone (13) of lower resistance arranged such that the edges opposite the anchoring post and or the vertical member leave between them a space (14) in which the zone of lower resistance can be seen, and optionally a central longitudinal bore receiving a sling or the like (21) shaped for providing a link between the anchoring post and the vertical member when the linking piece is broken. The invention is characterised in that at their opposite ends the post and the vertical member each comprise a plate (5, 6), the two plates being opposite each other and having each a central bore (11) for receiving the linking piece (12) and one at least of said plates having one surface (10) sloping from its centre towards its periphery such that the space between the two mutually opposite plates is greater at the periphery of the post than at its centre.

摘要: A post, primarily intended for traffic signs, lighting and the like and of such construction as to offer little resistance when being struck by a vehicle. The novelty is that the post consists of a polygonal hollow profile of metal in which each of the sides (1 - 4) is relatively rigid in the transverse sense and joined with adjacent sides by portions (6) weakened by attenuation of material.

摘要: A concrete foot structure for posts or a concrete post plinth (4) is intended to form a stiffening element or foundation element for a post (1) made, for example, of wood or concrete. The foot structure or plinth is provided with a fracture mechanism arranged to facilitate shearing of the foot structure or plinth when subjected to horizontally acting forces, for example when in collision with a motor vehicle. The fracture mechanism comprises a thin plastics plate (6) cast in situ with the foot structure or plinth. The plate can be used as a distance and holder means for reinforcing rods (5) when casting the foot structure or plinth.

摘要: @ Disclosed is a method of supporting a road traffic sign post (20) in which a lower sleeve portion (22) of the post (20) is embedded in the ground and secured therein by concrete (23), an interference fit tubular adaptor (1, 11) is driven into the sleeve (22) to provide a predetermined length of adaptor extending from the sleeve and the upper post portion (21) driven into the projecting portion (3, 13) of the adaptor (1, 11) so that the upper end of the sleeve and lower end of the post are in an abutting relationship. The adaptor (1, 11) is required to be weaker than the upper portion (21) of the post (20) in order that it will fracture or bend along a line between the abutting ends of the upper portion (21) and sleeve (20) in event of being hit, by for example, a car. The adaptor (1, 11) may have an outwardly directed flange (4,14) to determine the extent of penetration into the sleeve (22) and post (21), and outwardly directed chevrons (15, 16) at the ends to provide «lead-in» portions. The impact strength of the adaptor (1, 11) is predetermined by controlling its wall thickness or providing lines of weakness such as a groove or lines of holes (7).

摘要: A post (10) includes an anchor member (14) mounted in the ground, and an upper post member (18) spaced from the ground and mounted on an intermediate member (16) which extends into the anchor member.
Upon application of a force to the upper post member (18), the intermediate member (16) is arranged to deform or break prior to the upper post member (18) or anchor member (14) in order that the intermediate portion (16) can be quickly and cheaply replaced.
The height of the upper post member (18) can be adjusted by inserting a grooved pin (22) through the upper post member (18) and the selected pair of aligned holes (26) in the intermediate member.

摘要: The invention relates to a road boundary marker provided with a support for the reflector (2) that extends laterally with respect to the vertical support structure of the road boundary marker. The latter is preferably made in a number of parts (1 a, 1 b and 1 c) that can be dovetailed together; of these the part (1 a) is provided with means for anchoring the marker to the ground.
With a road boundary marker constructed in this way, better visibility of the reflector is ensured and the maintenance operation of removing the grass and clearing the side of the road is rendered easy. Furthermore, in the event of any part being damaged, the replacement of the complete boundary marker is avoided.
