Water content, after separated, is sent via a piping (15a) to be used as the preheating source medium for the preheater (13). Inlet temperature of the evaporator is controlled constant and pressure in the piping for leading the preheating source medium into the preheater is also controlled constant. Further, temperature difference of outlet temperature relative to the inlet temperature of the evaporator is controlled constant. Thereby, the water content in the heavy oil fuel coming out of the separator can be maintained to a predetermined value irrespective of load change in a heavy oil fuel combustion equipment and no light oil content is discharged together with the separated water content.

The invention concerns a control device for a diesel-operated internal combustion engine, said device comprising a mixer unit (5) in which diesel and air can be mixed to form a fuel mixture, a diesel feed line (2) which feeds diesel to the mixer unit (5), an air feed line (3) which feeds air to the mixer unit (5), a fuel mixture line (4) which feeds the fuel mixture out of the mixer unit (5) and into the internal combustion engine, and an adjusting device (6) which adjusts the flow of diesel through the diesel feed line (2). In order to provide for a diesel-operated internal combustion engine a control device which reduces the fuel consumption and pollutant emissions by optimizing the combustion process, the control device according to the invention further comprises a heater (7) which dehumidifies the air flowing through the air feed line (3) and heats this air to a uniform temperature, a control unit (8) which is disposed in the air feed line (3) downstream of the heater (7) and controls the flow of air through the air feed line (3) as a function of the engine speed, and a limiter unit (12) which is disposed in the air feed line (3) downstream of the control unit (8) and predetermines the maximum amount of air which can flow through the air feed line (3) into the mixer unit (5).

A secondary nozzle (40) may be located in the combustion chamber (28) for atomizing and spraying a secondary feed (42) of crude oil into the combustion chamber (28) so that the heat of combustion of the primary feed will vaporize the secondary feed and heat the secondary feed above its ignition temperature so that it will completely combust on contact with air. A heat exchanger (32) may be provided which uses the heat from the combustion chamber for preheating the crude oil before it is supplied to the primary (24) for secondary (40) nozzle.

In a combustion device which sprays liquid fuel and combusts it, an object is to promote combustion reaction and improve combustion efficiency, and suppress exhaustion of ash dust, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, by reducing spray particle diameter and reducing kinetic momentum. A spray nozzle is provided with upper and lower channels 28 and 29 from respective surfaces, the two channels form a cross shape, and become a fuel spray hole by communication of an intersecting part 30. A guide member 23 is provided, in contact with the upstream-side channel 28, in a position overlapped with the intersecting part (fuel spray hole) 30 with respect to the spray direction of the spray nozzle. Spray fluid (liquid fuel) is branched with the guide member 23 from the fuel fluid duct 21 connected to the spray nozzle, passes through the upstream-side channel 28, to the intersecting part 30, and is sprayed. The spray fluid forms opposed flows toward the intersecting part 30 in the upstream-side channel 28 to collide with each other at an obtuse angle of 90° or greater, then is sprayed from the intersecting part 30, to form a thin fan-shaped liquid film 31. The liquid film is divided by a shearing force from the peripheral gas, atomized into spray particles 32.
