Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Elektro-Installationsgerät (1), insbesondere eine Einbau-Steckdose, bestehend aus einem Geräte-Einsatz (2), einer mit dem Geräte-Einsatz (2) mechanisch zu verbindenden Zentralabdeckung (4) sowie insbesondere einem die Zentralabdeckung (4) umgebenden Abdeckrahmen (6). Der Geräte-Einsatz (2) weist elektrische Kontaktelemente (14) zum Anschluss einer Netzspannung auf. Die Zentralabdeckung (4) weist eine integrierte Beleuchtungseinrichtung (16) mit Leuchtmitteln (18) und Verbindungskontakten (20) auf. Diese Verbindungskontakte (20) sind derart ausgebildet, dass beim mechanischen Verbinden der Zentralabdeckung (14) mit dem Geräte-Einsatz (2) die Verbindungskontakte (20) der Beleuchtungseinrichtung (16) selbsttätig die Kontaktelemente (14) des Geräte-Einsatzes (2) elektrisch kontaktieren.

An LED light engine includes a flexible electrical cable, a wire-socket assembly attached to the cable, and an LED module selectively attached to the wire-socket assembly. The wire-socket assembly includes at least two IDC terminals. The IDC terminal displaces the insulating covering of the cable and contacts one of the electrical conductors. The LED module includes an LED electrically connected to the IDC terminals when the LED module attaches to the wire-socket assembly.

An electrical plug (11) has a housing (13) with a forward face (17) and has electrical conductors (15) carried by the housing and adapted for conducting electrical energy through the housing. A lighting system is installed within the housing, the lighting system having a lighting element (25) carried in the housing and oriented to emit light in a forward direction generally normal to the face. The lighting element is located above the face and recessed from the face. The lighting system also has an electrical power source (37A,37B) for providing electrical power to the lighting element and a switch means (23) for selectively operating the lighting element.

A socket (10) provides power to a mating connector plug when actuated by a switch (22) integral with the socket (10). The switch (22) can be actuated by insertion of the connector plug, by pivoting open a socket cover (16), by sliding a slide cover into an operational position, or by a combination of the above. The switch (22) is isolated from the power supplied to the socket (10) and acts as a power supply signal to enable socket power. The socket (10) is powered only when needed as indicated by the actuation method, thereby reducing draw on a power supply connected to the socket (10). The switch (22) actuation methods described also provide safety features by disabling power to the socket (10) unless the socket (10) is actually in use. The socket cover (16) and slide cover also prevent access to the socket (10) unless positioned to receive a connector.

The present invention provides a mobile apparatus comprising a plurality of remote units (18) which can be placed in any of a number of arrangements, each remote unit having associated therewith an indicator light (25; 38) which is selectively activated in response to an activation signal from a control unit (12; 30) so that placement of the remote units according to any required arrangement can be achieved, and a plurality of cables (14; 32) extending between the control unit and respective remote units for carrying said activation signals and operation signals between the control unit and respective remote units. The present invention also provides a muscle stimulation (10) apparatus comprising: a control unit (12) for controlling supply of electrical control signals to an arrangement of electrodes (18); and a plurality of cables (14) for supplying the electrical control signals to the electrodes along electrical conductors, each cable having associated therewith an indicator which is selectively activated in response to an indicator signal from the control unit (12). The indicator or activation signals are optical signals and the cables (14) are provided with optical fibres for transmitting the indicator signals from the control unit (12) to the electrodes (18).
