First and second bond lines 30a, 30b are located on opposing sides of the mask body 12 and join a top portion 18 of the mask body 12 to the bottom portion 20. The first and second bond lines 30a, 30b extend from the frontal line of demarcation 22 to upper and lower perimeter segments 24a, 24b. The upper and lower perimeter segments 24a, 24b have an upper linear segment 32a and a lower linear segment 32b, respectively, located between first and second curved portions 34a, 34b. The first and second curved portions 34a, 34b each extend from the respective upper or lower linear segment 32a, 32b to the first and second bond lines 30a, 30b. The invention relates to a method for monitoring breathing air of a person breathing via a face mask (8). In the method pressure of inhaled air and partial pressure of oxygen before oxygen enters in the face mask (8) are measured. A partial pressure of oxygen in lungs of the person is estimated on the basis of the measured pressure of inhaled air and the measured partial pressure of oxygen. Also at least one physical characteristics of lungs is taken into account. The estimated partial pressure of oxygen in lungs is compared with a threshold. An indication of impending hypoxia is provided to the person, if the comparison indicates that the estimated partial pressure of oxygen in lungs is at a level lower than the threshold. The invention also relates to an apparatus (6) for implementing the method.

A ventilator-resuscitator device comprising a mixing chamber, a compressor, a controllable pressure-relief vent, and a controller, is provided. The mixing chamber has air and oxygen inlets, and an outlet. The compressor is configured to operate crate at two or more power levels and to increase, by a different amount at each power level, the pressure of a gas flowing between a low-pressure side thereof and a high-pressure side thereof, thereby producing a pressurized gas, the low-pressure side being in fluid communication with the outlet of the mixing chamber. The vent comprises an orifice configured to bring the high-pressure side of the compressor into fluid communication with the atmosphere. The controller is configured to direct operation thereof and to regulate the pressure of the pressurized gas by selectively operating the compressor at one of its power levels.
