The present invention relates to a method for utilizing a wood hydrolysate obtained from a hydrothermal treatment of a wood material method comprises the steps of providing a wood material, treating the wood material by means of an aqueous hydrothermal treatment so that a wood hydrolysate and a wood residue is formed. The wood hydrolysate comprises oligo- and polysaccharides as the main component of dry matter. The method further comprises the steps of; separating the wood hydrolysate into at least a first and a second fraction and using at least one of the at least first and second fractions for production of an intermediate or end product. Such end product may be e.g. a film, coating, package or a gel. The present invention also relates to a polymer product such as a film, a coating or a gel and its applications. The present invention provides for biodegradable and renewable polymer products and a method which utilizes and extracts a very high product value from a process.

The invention concerns an arrangement and a method for the steam pre-treatment of chips during the production of cellulose pulp. With the aim of avoiding the blow-through of gases in the steam pre-treatment vessel (1) and in this way preventing foul-smelling gases from being released into the atmosphere, spreader nozzles (10) for the injection of cooling fluid are arranged in the gas phase of the steam pre-treatment vessel. In the event of the initiation of the risk for blow-through of steam, cooling that is proportional to the risk is activated. It is possible in this simple manner to avoid the emission of gases from the chip bin when interruptions in the process occur, whereby the release of odours into the surroundings can be minimised.

The invention relates to a method for separating lignocellulose-containing biomass, especially wood, into the essential components in the form of lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose, with the following steps: a) pre-hydrolyzing the lignocellulose-containing biomass by treating it with water or steam; b) extracting the hydrolyzed hemicellulose obtained by pre-hydrolyzation with an aqueous medium; c) extracting the process-modified lignin that remains in the residue with an alkanolamine, isolating the lignin, recovering the alkanolamine, whereby the alkanolamine is not substituted by alkyl groups at the nitrogen atom, and d) obtaining a cellulose raw material. The inventive method is characterized in that hemicelluloses and lignin can be specifically separated from the cellulose in two different process steps. For this purpose, simple and commercially available system components can be used that facilitate an economical operation also with small installations.

The invention relates to an apparatus for supplying steam into a silo via holes provided in the bottom (3) of the silo and via channels (8) provided below the silo. According to the invention, the steam supply channel (8) is provided with a feed connection through which the steam to be fed into the silo is passed into the steam supply channel (8). Furthermore, the channel (8) is provided with steam feed nozzles (17) placed under the holes in the bottom (3) of the silo. The nozzle (17) is preferably provided with a mounting flange (21) which is fastened to the lower part of the channel (8), making it easy to remove the nozzle (17).

The present disclosure provides a high temperature chemithermomechanical pulp (HT-CTMP) formed from a mixture of hardwood and spruce wood, wherein the dry weight ratio of hardwood to spruce wood in said mixture is between 65:35 and 20:80. A method of producing HT-CTMP is also provided.
