    摘要: Apparatus and Methods are disclosed for determining the direction between a rotating magnetic field and alternating magnetic field sensors at a remote location. The curvature of a borehole drilling assembly between a rotating drill bit (10) carrying a permanent magnet (50) and sensors (46) behind a drilling motor (16) is measured to provide early indication of changes in drilling direction. A second application concerns measurement of the convergence and divergence and the skewness of two approximately parallel well bores to provide information for correcting the drilling direction to maintain parallelism. A third application measures the direction and distance to a point target to provide data for guiding drilling toward that target. The primary apparatus are an oriented, rotating permanent magnet (50) and an oriented, three component alternating magnetic field sensor.

    摘要: There has been explained a method and an apparatus for use in the advancing of a rotating motorised downhole tool for carrying out operations in an oil/gas well, especially in connection with the drilling and milling away of casing/casing sections in a well, which is to be abandoned and plugged by grouting with a cement mixture, which will then reach the formation wall surface where the casing/casing portion was milled away and removed. The rotating tool and its driving motor are indirectly suspended on coiled tubing at the free end thereof. As the platforms used for carrying out these operations are normally without rigs, it is advantageous to use coiled tubing to advance the tool/motor. However, coiled tubing cannot absorb a sufficient torque from the tool/motor. Therefore the tool with its motor is connected to a carriage, a so-called 'rolling anchor' (1) which absorb torques that occur, and is connected to the end of coiled tubing through a swivel coupling (so that the torque will not be transmitted). Through the carriage (1) connected through the swivel coupling to the coiled tubing, a pull on the coiled tubing provides the tool and motor with advancing power for longitudinal movement, so that the advancing of the tool takes place from below upwards, whereby it has also been taken into account, that to the coiled tubing there cannot be supplied any particularly great downward forces.

    摘要: An apparatus (10) and process are provided for drilling and completing multiple subterranean wells from a template which is secured within a cased well bore extending to the surface. An orienting cam having a bore (20) therethrough is positioned above the template such that the bore through the orienting cam is automatically aligned with one of at least two bores through the template. Fluid tight seals are provided between the orienting cam and the casing and between the orienting cam and one of the at least two bores through the template. Thereafter, a drill string including a drill bit is lowered from the surface of the earth through the casing, the bore through the orienting cam and the one bore through said template to drill a first subterranean well bore.
