    摘要: A method of machining a work-piece formed of titanium-based material, using a machining apparatus 10, is described. The method includes the steps of providing an electrically-conductive electrode 14 contained within a spindle assembly 12, in a preselected distance and position relative to the titanium-based work-piece 16; while electrically powering the electrode and the work-piece with a power supply 22. In the process, fluid electrolyte is circulated through at least two pathways in the machining apparatus - an internal conduit 32 within the spindle assembly; and an external conduit 34. The charged electrode is moved relative to the work-piece in a plunging motion, to remove material from the work-piece at a relatively high rate, using a highspeed electro-erosion (HSEE) process.

    摘要: An abradable honeycomb is integrally formed in a turbine nozzle (11) sealing flange (16) for engagement with a bucket angel wing (14) to reduce the leakage of air into the turbine's hot gas path. The honeycomb is integrally formed in a turbine nozzle sealing flange (16) using a sinker EDM method to directly sink the honeycomb into the sealing flange (16) itself so that the honeycomb is an integral part of the flange (16). For repair, an entirely new honeycomb flange can be made and welded or brazed on to the turbine nozzle (11).

    摘要: In a molding die machining electrode 10, slit grooves of a molding die are machined with a slit groove forming part 22 having a substantially circular outer circumference by ranging hexagonal erected wall parts 23 in a row; while the inner circumference of a slit groove forming part 32 overlaps with the erected wall parts 23 in the outer circumference of the slit groove forming part 22, the outside slit grooves are machined with the slit groove forming part 32 having a substantially circular outer circumference. Similarly, the further outside slit grooves are machined with the slit groove forming part 42 of the third electrode 40. In such a manner, a plurality of the slit groove forming parts are radially divided and overlapping portions between the plurality of the slit groove forming parts are formed substantially coaxially with a molded body. The areas of the slit groove forming parts 22, 32, and 42 are designed to nearly similar values, suppressing the difference in wear of the electrodes.
