Methods and apparatuses for forming a nonwoven web are described herein. The apparatus includes a mixing partition defining one or more openings therein that permit fluid communication between two fluid flow streams, at least one of which includes a fiber. The apparatus also includes an enclosed region surrounding at least a portion of the mixing partition. The enclosed region is adapted to provide an applied pressure to a fluid flow stream to urge the stream through one or more of the openings in the mixing partition. The apparatus also includes a receiving region designed to receive at least a combined flow stream and form a nonwoven web by collecting fiber from the combined flow stream.

Provided is a sheet of nonwoven fabric which has surface irregularities and is for use as the surface sheet or absorbent of, for example, a paper diaper, the shape of the surface irregularities being less apt to be changed by external pressure, etc. The sheet of nonwoven fabric has a machine direction (MD), a cross direction (CD), a thickness direction (TD) which are perpendicular to one another, and has an upper surface (A) and a lower surface (B) in the thickness direction. The upper surface has a plurality of protrusions (2) continuously extending, in parallel, in the cross direction and further has a plurality of recesses (3) that are located between the adjacent protrusions and extend in the cross direction. The sheet of nonwoven fabric comprises a first fibrous layer (4) and a second fibrous layer (5), the first and second layers being located on the upper-surface side and the lower-surface side, respectively. The first fibrous layer comprises heat-fusible fibers, and the second fibrous layer comprises coil-shaped three-dimensional crimp fibers. The coil-shaped three-dimensional crimp fibers of the second fibrous layer have been oriented mainly in the machine direction and have formed a network due to entanglement thereof without having been fused at the sites where the crimp fibers cross one another.

The invention relates to a method and device for measuring the weight of an endless flow of web-shaped fiber material, which is conveyed on a circulating conveyor belt, wherein a signal corresponding to the weight of the fiber material on the conveyor belt is generated by means of an associated measuring system and said signal is used in particular to control a machine that processes the fiber material. According to the invention, a signal corresponding to the mass per unit area and the weight per unit area of the material is determined downstream of the measuring system (GS, TBW) of the conveyor belt (TBW) in the conveying direction. The signal is considered in the evaluation of the weight signal detected in the area of the circulating conveyor belt (TBW). In addition, a signal of a measuring device (M) for determining the mass per unit area and the weight per unit area of the fiber material (F, V) is fed to an evaluating device (A), wherein the measuring device (M) is arranged downstream of the conveyor belt (TBW) in the conveying direction.

The invention relates to an apparatus for producing a spunbonded fabric. In order to achieve an improved airiness of the spunbonded fabric and ready adaptability to process parameters which are to be changed, the spinning beam together with the blowing apparatus is configured to be pivotable in a pivoting unit. A required high airiness is achieved by the filaments running obliquely onto the fabric belt below the spinning beam. Rotary leadthroughs or elastic feed lines to the spinning beam make the slight pivoting possible.
