摘要： An activated carbon, disclosed as useful in purification and decolorization of hydrocarbon fuel, particularly gasoline, is characterized by inclusion therein of polymerized phosphoric acid or reduced transition metals. The conversion of phosphoric acid to a polymerized phosphate content (e.g., as added to activated carbon or as residual in phosphoric acid-activated carbon) or reduction of transition metals (such as copper added to an activated carbon in a salt form in addition to whatever is already present therein as ' impurities) to a reduced form results from the activated carbon having been treated with inert gas or carbon dioxide at from about 1200° F to about 18000F for at least 5 minutes. Alternatively, the conversion of phosphoric acid to a polymerized phosphate content can occur during phosphoric acid activation of carbon at activation temperatures in the range of 1150°-1600°F.

One of the wall panels is formed with a tearaway strip (34, 134) the removal of which separates that panel into two detached portions (16, 18; 116, 118) and which allows the carton to be separated entirely from its contents. Detached portion-reconnecting means comprises a hinged flap (66, 166) which is partially detachable from a wall panel adjacent one edge (36, 138) of the tearaway strip and foldable into overlapping relationship with a wall panel adjacent an opposite edge (38, 136) of the tearaway strip. Complementary locking means (70, 76; 170, 176) are provided by the hinged flap and the wall panel adjacent the opposite edge of the tearaway strip to connect together the adjacent wall panels after removal of the tearaway strip in order to reconstruct the carton.
