A method and apparatus for use as part of diagnostic analysis of the psychiatric or neurological health of a patient based on use of a normative database of fMRI data results and cognitive task results for a population of prior patients. Embodiments propose to acquire fMRI data of a particular set of one or more regions of the brain of a patient while the patient is performing a cognitive task, and to record at the same time results of the patient's performance in the cognitive task. A combination of both the cognitive task results and the fMRI data for the brain regions is used to provide an indicator as to a cognitive health status of the patient. More particularly, a normative database of fMRI data results and cognitive task results for a population of patients is used as a reference. This may store results both for healthy patients and pathological patients, to provide a normal and abnormal reference.

According to an aspect, there is provided a computer-implemented method for determining a sleep schedule (20; 40; 60) for a subject. The method comprises obtaining (101) information indicating a shift working pattern for the subject, the shift working pattern comprising at least one night shift, information indicating a required duration of sleep for the subject, and information relating to any personal activities to be undertaken by the subject during the day before or day after the at least one night shift. The method also comprises analyzing (103) the obtained information to determine a sleep schedule (20; 40; 60) for the subject. The sleep schedule (20; 40; 60) comprises two or more sleep windows in the day before or day after the at least one night shift in which the subject is to sleep, with the two or more sleep windows being scheduled according to the required duration of sleep for the subject and according to any personal activities to be undertaken by the subject.

In order to enable more accurate calibration of brain, there is provided a system for creating a hemodynamic brain atlas for calibration of brain hemodynamics. The system comprises a non-invasive transcranial neurostimulation device, a non-invasive neuromonitoring device, and a computing device. The non-invasive transcranial neurostimulation device is configured to induce neuronal activity to evoke a hemodynamic response in a target region of interest (ROI) of a brain of a human subject. The non-invasive neuromonitoring device is configured to monitor the evoked hemodynamic response in the target ROI. The computing device configured to determine a set of parameters representing a hemodynamic response function, HRF, of the evoked hemodynamic response in the target ROI, and to associate the set of parameters of the HRF with the target ROI to form the hemodynamic brain atlas.
