    摘要: The tire building machine comprises a tire building drum (22) or shaper, annular bladders (82) adjacent each end and a bead setter and bladder pusher mechanism (198) movable axially of the drum selectively to set a tire bead in proper position and to push and effectively roll the bladder (82) when inflated to cause the ply edges of the tire to be wrapped about the bead without air entrapment and stitched securely. Such mechanism includes a bead setting and pushing ring mounted for axial movement and hydraulic actuators (158) are provided for effecting such movement. The ring has a flat face, a short axially extending radially inner annular surface or shelf (210) for restricting expansion of a portion of the bladder rearwardly of the face when inflated thereunder, and a rounded inner peripheral edge or bead (212) projecting beyond the shelf which grips the bladder when inflated to prevent relative sliding movement of the bladder and ring during bladder push. There is further provided a movable stop (166) for precisely locating bead set and bladder pick-up positions of the ring and bead clamps for holding the tire bead to the ring during the bead set operation.

    摘要: A tire curing press has a loader assembly comprising a bead grip for engaging and lifting the axial interior of the upper bead of a green tire and a tread positioning ring movable axially to an adjusted position to engage the tire tread shoulder and to force a predetermined distance between the upper bead and tread to identify precisely the transaxial middle or crown plane of the tread. The loader includes means to swing the bead grip and tread register from a tire pick-up position to a load position centered in the press and to position the lower bead of the green tire on or close to a movable toe ring, and then to lower the bead grip, tread register and toe ring uniformly with the green tire held open and firmly therebetween to match the transaxial middle plane of the tread to that of a bladder mounted in a center mechanism in the press by independently movable top and bottom bladder bead clamps. Adjustable mechanical stops and pilots are utilized for obtaining precise alignment of the movable press components with respect to one another and for accommodating different sizes of tires being processed. The center mechan- i ism is mounted in a movable mounting sleeve, the upper end i of which supports the toe ring. The sleeve is mounted in a well and the bottom plate of the mounting well is provided with passages for circulation of coolant therethrough to isolate the center mechanism hydraulic actuators mounted on and beneath such plate from the heat generated in the press cavity.

    摘要: A tire curing press and method are characterized by a center mechanism (48) operative first to center the top bead of a green tire carcass with respect to the top mold section (42) and then the bottom bead with respect to the bottom mold section (44), and to hold the beads centered and axially separated as the press closes to cause the beads to register and seat with the toe rings of the top and bottom mold section simultaneously as the press closely approaches its closed condition. The center mechanism comprises top and bottom segmented annular clamping rings (52) adapted to engage and shape the axial interior of the bead area of the tire and respective chuck assemblies including a multi-faceted linear cam (102) and respective followers (64,66) for each ring segment (54, 56) operative to collapse each alternate ring segment (54) and then each other ring segment (56). The clamping rings achieve automatic loading, centering and unloading and may be used individually or paired in bladder or bladderless curing.

    摘要: A loader for tire machinery as tire presses is disclosed, which loader is supported from a vertically and horizontally movable frame and which includes a vertical shaft or sleeve journaled with respect to the frame with a horizontal plate (27) secured for rotation therewith. Loader shoes (50) are mounted on the frame radial movement and respective link means (82) interconnect the plate and each loader shoe, each link extending at a common angle with respect to a radius from the center of rotation of the plate, and rotation of the plate (27) in one direction will reduce the angle accordingly moving the shoes radially outwardly and rotation of the plate in the opposite direction will increase the angle moving the shoes radially inwardly. Each link (82) is adjustable in length and the extent of rotation of the plate in one or both directions is limited by adjustable stops. The loader shoes remain parallel throughout their movement and are supported for radial movement by self-aligning slider blocks (75, 76, 77, 78).
