A modular fire prevention flooring system includes a plurality of fire prevention flooring planks. Each plank is generally tubular and forms a drain channel. Fluids spilled onto the upper surface of the flooring system may drain through a plurality of drain holes formed in the upper surface of the planks. The planks may further include a metal filler positioned within the drain channels to stop combustion of burning fluids spilled into the drain channels. The metal filler may break up burning liquids and remove heat therefrom. In some embodiments, a purging fluid may be flowed through the planks to purge any spilled fluids therefrom.

More particularly, a flame mitigation device (26) has at least one sensor (25) configured to sense a flame (21), and at least one suppression agent (28) release device configured to release a flame suppression agent into the projected flame path when the flame is sensed. The sensor (25) may sense the flame either directly or indirectly. A flame mitigation system (26) is also disclosed, wherein the system includes an enclosure (22) and at least one pressure release device configured to release a flame from the enclosure. The system (26) may include at least one sensor (25) configured to sense the flame (21), and a device configured to release a suppression agent (28). A method of mitigating a flame in a combustible material system is also disclosed.

The invention relates to the production of a spherical hollow filling body for filling containers for combustible and inflammable liquids or gases, and to a method for the especially advantageous uses thereof, for example, for preventing explosive combustion processes and explosions, for extinguishing fires, as protection against corrosion in tanks, for separating fuels and water, as protection against bacteria and fungi in fuel tanks, as protection against theft, for reducing hydrocarbon emissions, for increasing the stability and safety of tanks in the event of a crash, for reducing the boil-off effect of hydrogen, for applications in the chemical industry, for deriving static electricity from fuel containers, for protection against electromagnetic interferences, for reducing and slowing down the B.L.E.V.E. effect, for increasing the filling quantity of gas containers, for heating and cooling liquids and gases, and for reducing evaporation loss. The invention also relates to methods for producing the filling body. Figure 1 shows a spherical filling body according to the invention, consisting of a plurality of disk-type circular vertical surfaces (1, 2 and 3) and a plurality of disk-type circular horizontal surfaces (7, 8 and 10) which are parallel to each other. The invention relates to a fire-fighting system which can be used to extinguish a fire in a storage tank for flammable liquids. The inventive system comprises a portable discharge device and a portable installation device. According to the invention, the portable discharge device receives a fire-fighting agent from a supply hose and uses said fire-fighting agent to extinguish the fire in the storage tank. Moreover, the portable discharge device can be connected to the distal end of the portable installation device such that the portable discharge device can be mounted to a storage tank. In addition, a plurality of discharge devices can be mounted to a single storage tank, using the same portable installation device, in order to provide a wide and varied quantity of fire-fighting agents or to supply fire-fighting agents to a specific part of the tank. The portable installation device can be extended to a variety of lengths so that the discharge device can be mounted to storage tanks of different sizes.
