A replaceable marking element for mounting in a hammer for the tattoo-marking of an animal has needles (1), which are arranged in a predetermined pattern. The needles have in their side/sides one or more grooves (2, 9), which run in the longitudinal direction of the needles. This makes it easier for the ink to flow into the indentations formed by the needles by the tattooing blow against a pig, and the ink can better fill up the indentations, especially when the grooves are extended all the way to the needle part, which narrows towards the point.

A simplified lost-core molding system (10) that combines otherwise redundant features such as platens and hydraulic cylinders ordinarily found in separate core molding stations and product molding stations. The preferred system (10) locates the core mold (81, 82) and the product mold (71, 72) between the platens (40, 50) of an injection molding machine and applies a common clamping force to the core mold and to the product mold.

An aluminum alloy for die-casting capable of being used in high pressure die-casting method, and capable of providing a product having a sufficiently high strength and elongation without T6 treatment after casting and endurable under a corrosive atmosphere. Such aluminum alloy is used as a material of a subordinate frame for an automobile. The aluminum alloy contains from 8.0 to 9.0 mass % of Si, from 0.35 to 0.45 mass % of Mg, from 0.3 to 0.4 mass % of Mn, from 0.002 to 0.008 mass % of Be, less than 0.20 mass % of Fe, not more than 0.2 mass % of Cu, not more than 0.1 mass % of Zn, not more than 0.1 mass % of Ni, not more than 0.1 mass % of Sn, and remainders of Al and inevitable impurities. High pressure die casting is performed with this alloy by a die-casting machine provided with a seal ring disposed over a plunger tip, liquidized gaskets, a sealing rubber and a pin seal plate those being capable of providing high sealability and high vacuum in a mold cavity.

A method and an apparatus is disclosed for forming a one-piece introducer needle having a member portion and a needle by feeding molten steel into a cavity of a mold.

A cavity defined by a casting mold is filled with a molten metal in such a condition that a sliding member movable forward and rearward has been moved into the cavity. The sliding member is drawn out of the cavity when the molten metal solidifies to such a degree as to maintain a certain shape. A separate member to be force-fitted is placed between the distal end of the sliding member and the cavity. The sliding member is then advanced into the cavity so that the separate member is force-fitted into a concave portion formed in the casting before the casting mold enclosing the casting is opened. The separate member is thus force-fitted into the casting while the casting is enclosed in the casting mold.

An aluminum-silicon eutectic type casting material containing 7.5 to 12 wt% of silicon and at least one of 1.5 to 4.8 wt% of copper and 0.2 to 0.7 wt% of magnesium is cast by a high speed die casting method. After mold release, the resulting die cast product is subjected, after the surface temperature thereof falls to within the range of 250 to 450°C, to at least one of a water cooling treatment which immerses the die cast product into a water tank and an ageing treatment which retains it at a temperature within the range of 150 to 250°C for a predetermined time.

Method for the manufacturing of products with anodized high gloss surfaces from extruded profiles of Al—Mg—Si or AS-Mg—Si—Cu, where the alloys initially are cast to extrusion billets), containing in wt. % Si: 0.25-1.00 Mg. 0.25-1.00 Fe: 0.00-0.15 Cu: 0.00-0.30 Mn: 0.00-0.20 Cr: 0.00-0.10 Zr: 0.00-0.10 Se: 0.00 -0.10 Zn: 0.00-0.10 Ti: 0.00-0.05., and including incidental impurities and balance A.L a) where the billet is homogenised at a holding temperature between 480° C. and 620° C. and soaked at this temperature for 0-12 hours, where after the billet is subjected to cooling from the homogenisation temperature at a rate of 150° C./h or faster, b) the billet is preheated to a temperature between 400 and 540° C. and extruded preferably to a solid shape profile and cooled rapidly down to room temperature, c) optionally artificially ageing the profile, d) deforming the profile more than 10% by a cold roiling operation, whereafter e) the profile is flash annealed with a healing time of maximum two minutes to a temperature of between 450-530° C. for not more than 5 minutes and subsequently quenched, and f) optionally the profile after flash annealing is further subjected to a cold deforming operation to remove residual stresses from cooling and adjusting dimensional tolerances, and g) the profile is finally aged.

The method comprises at least the following steps: —exposing a substrate to focused laser irradiation at a preselected series of locations that trace a subset of the substrate volume that is connected to the surface of the substrate; some subsets of substrate volume not connected to the surface of the substrate may also be exposed at the same time for other purposes, for instance, so that they can be used as waveguides or other optical elements or for another subsequent etching step; —removing the substrate material from the exposed preselected series of locations to create within the substrate at least one cavity that is connected to the surface of the substrate; —immersing the cavity-containing substrate in an appropriate atmosphere such as a selected gas or vacuum and, within this atmosphere, —contacting the substrate surface with the molten castable material surface at locations where the cavity or cavities emerges from the substrate; —applying pressure to the castable material to cause it to infiltrate the substrate cavities; and —solidifying the castable material within the cavities.
