A steerable container delivery system ("CDS") includes a pallet (130) configured with inflatable fins (135) for steering a CDS cargo bundle (115) during free fall when airdropped. The inflatable fins (135) are inflated shortly after deployment using compressed air carried by a tank in the pallet (133). A flight management computer ("FMS") continuously monitors the location of the CDS bundle (115) using GPS technology and determines a vector to a drop location based on stored GPS measurements. The FMC continuously monitors and positions the CDS bundle (115) over the drop location, and is able to independently rotate the fins (135) to control the position of the CDS bundle, either by rotating the CDS bundle (115) or laterally moving it. At the appropriate altitude, the FMC causes the main parachute to open to slow the descent of the CDS bundle for impact.

Wind parameter indication device and method for providing an indication of wind speed and wind direction. The device is deployed along an aerial trajectory toward a ground surface, such as after being ejected from an aircraft in flight. The device includes an anemometer, an altimeter, a compass, a processor and a transmitter. The anemometer obtains local wind speed and local wind direction measurements along the trajectory. The altimeter obtains altitude measurements along the trajectory. The compass obtains direction measurements along the trajectory. The device may further include an accelerometer, for obtaining acceleration measurements along the trajectory. The processor determines a wind speed value and a wind direction value associated with a predetermined altitude of the device. The transmitter transmits the determined wind speed value and wind direction value to a remotely located receiver. The device may further include a stabilizing decelerator to stabilize and decelerate the device along the trajectory.

The cooling system can he used to cool a heat emitting component In one form the cooling system is a refrigerant system and includes a relatively high temperature device such as, but not limited to, a condenser. The relatively high temperature component is placed In thermal communication with a passing air flow. In one embodiment the aircraft includes a pod in which at least a portion of the cooling system is disposed. For example, a condenser of a vapor cycle refrigerant system can be located in the pod and in thermal communication with the air flow. The cooling system can also include a device capable of delivering a cooling fluid into the air flow and/or to the relatively high temperature component. The cooling fluid can he evaporated to provided additional cooling.

The limits thereof are constituted of altitude/time lines (22, 24; 31, 32) and are produced on the basis of a reference point determined by an altitude and a time coordinate. The course of the altitude/time lines is calculated from the integral of a defined sink rate (v)/time, different sink rates being associated with the altitude/time lines. The invention further relates to a path guidance system for determining control standards for controlling the parachute or paraglider.
