A hydrophilic coating for use with a heat exchanger includes an insolubilizer configured to provide structure or support for the hydrophilic coating. The hydrophilic coating further includes a wetting agent configured to provide wettability for the hydrophilic coating. The hydrophilic coating further includes an antibacterial agent configured to eliminate at least a portion of bacteria that contacts the hydrophilic coating. The hydrophilic coating may further include an antifungal agent configured to eliminate at least a portion of fungi that contacts the hydrophilic coating, the antifungal agent may be different than the antibacterial agent and the insolubilizer.

A surface cooler or heat exchanger (50) can include an integral monolithic body (68). The integral monolithic body (68) can include a set of fluid passages (82), at least one manifold connection (74, 76) having an inlet (78) and an outlet (79), a set of return manifolds (88) fluidly coupling at least some of the set of fluid passages (82), and a set of fins (90). The monolithic body (68) can have differing local material properties defined during formation of the heat exchanger (50).

The cooling system (10) comprises: at least one plate member (12) forming a wall of a casing inside which the electronic apparatus to be cooled is accommodated in use, the plate member (12) having a first side (12a) facing in use towards the apparatus and a second side (12b) opposite to the first side (12a); and a fluid circuit (14) formed in the plate member (12), wherein the fluid circuit (14) comprises a first duct (14a) formed on the first side (12a) of the plate member (12) and extending along a first labyrinth path and a second duct (14b) formed on the second side (12b) of the plate member (12) and extending along a second labyrinth path. The plate member (12) has a first through hole (18) and a second through hole (20) through which the first duct (14a) and the second duct (14b) are in in fluid communication with each other. The fluid circuit (14) further comprises a porous separation element (22) which is placed in the first through hole (18) and through which a working fluid flows by capillarity from the second duct (14b) to the first duct (14a), the working fluid being in vapour phase in the first duct (14a) and in liquid phase in the second duct (14b).

A heat exchanger (10) includes a cooling air conduit (12) having multiple baffles (14), a hot air conduit (16) having multiple passes (18) through the cooling air conduit (12), and multiple perforations (52) extending through the baffles (14). A cooling air flow passes through the baffles (14), rather than strictly between the baffles (14), and improves heat-transfer characteristics of the heat exchanger (10).

A curvilinear plate (100) for a heat exchanger is provided. The curvilinear plate (100) can include an inner plate (102) defining a plurality of first grooves (104) and an outer plate (106) defining a plurality of second grooves (108). The outer plate (106) is attached to the inner plate (102) with the plurality of first grooves (104) and the plurality of second grooves (108) substantially aligned to define a plurality of channels (110) therebetween. Each channel (110) extends from a first opening (120) on a first portion (122) of a first end (124) of the curvilinear plate (100) to a second opening (128) on a second portion (130) of the first end (124). A method is also generally provided for forming a curvilinear plate (100).
