The control valve according to the invention is for use in liquid-carrying systems. It comprises a valve housing (1) having an inlet side (17) and an outlet side (18), said valve housing being provided with a pressure maintaining arrangement for maintaining a constant differential pressure between the inlet and outlet sides, as well as an amount control arrangement for setting the maximum flow amount through the valve and adjustment of it. The control arrangement comprises two cylinder shell elements (2 and 3) cooperating in the flow path, both having material removed from otherwise overlapping areas, thereby generating an uncovered area (25) in the flow path of the control valve. The outer cylinder shell element (3) is stationarily rotatable relative to the valve housing, while the inner cylinder shell element (2) may be rotated by means of a rotatable handle (13), whereby a larger or smaller opening (25) between the cooperating cylinder shell elements (2 and 3) may be provided. Both cylinder shell elements (2 and 3), which cooperate with the seat hole (8) of the valve housing, may also be displaced (26) in the axial direction, resulting in an increase or a decrease of the generated opening (25). Thereby, the flow amount may be adjusted prior to the presetting, e.g. by means of an actuator.

The present invention concerns a regulating valve (l)of the type preferably used for dynamic regulation of fluid-borne systems, such as central heating systems in housing and industrial buildings or cooling facilities, where the control valve is provided with a valve housing (2) with an inlet (3) and an outlet (4), where a valve insert (5)with an orifice means (12) is provided in the valve housing (2) by which the flow in the regulating valve can be regulated, and where additionally there are detecting means (6, 7) for detecting either supply pressure or discharge pressure and another pressure, respectively. The regulating valve is provided with a modular valve insert (5)which at least includes a differential pressure regulator (9), a venturi(lθ), a throttle device (ll)and a coupling member (13) for an actuator, where the various modules are made with interacting joining means, preferably with snap-action joints. A valve insert (5) may thus be built up of respective modules, where the modules are selected individually with the most suitable specifications for the individual task. It is thus not required to make as many different combinations of valve inserts since they are combined modularly according to need.

A surge prevention valve may be used to prevent the formation of an initial surge of high pressure. The valve may be located, for example, between a high pressure gas cylinder and a medical pressure regulator. The valve is provided with first and second valves located within a housing and integrating a pressurization orifice. The initial opening of the valve in an axial direction enables gas to flow through the pressurization orifice at a first flow rate. The full opening of the valve in the axial direction enables the gas to flow through the second valve at a second flow rate, which is much higher than the first flow rate. The controlled pressurization of the gas through the orifice delays the time during which the gas reaches full recompression. The valve may be further provided with a vent for venting pressurized gas away from a nominally closed top surface of the lower valve element. The valve may be also provided with a valve inlet tube extending into a gas cylinder to prevent contaminants, particles and/or impurities from entering the valve. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the valve has a deformable seal element that is sealed on both sides when the main passageway is closed. The deformable element, which may be an apertured disk, may be resiliently bowed or preloaded. This helps the disk remain in the desired position against a first one of the valve seats even after the disk is permanently deformed by the first valve seat.
