    摘要: An internal magnetic shield includes a pair of opposing long side walls (1), a pair of opposing short side walls (2), and an opening (3) enclosed by these side walls in the center. The short side walls (2) are provided with notches (4) having a substantially home-plate shape. This configuration can reduce mislanding of an electron beam on the entire screen and easily balance the amount of mislanding due to geomagnetism in the tube-axis direction and in the horizontal direction perpendicular to the tube axis. As a result, a cathode ray tube capable of displaying images without displacement and unevenness of colors can be provided.

    摘要: The distribution of magnetic field of the terrestrialmagnetism is complicated. Thus, it is difficult to compensate the deviation of the arrival point of the electron beam onto the fluorescent material plane due to the influence of external magnetic field such as the terrestrialmagnetic field, when only an inner magnetic shield and a mask are installed in a flat type color CRT to avoid such influence, in certain regions on the earth, where such CRT is used. The first countermeasure of the influence is using of a stripe type color cathode ray tube, which has a large allowance to the deviation of the arrival point of the electron beam in the vertical direction. Next countermeasure is disposing of a filler made from non-magnetic material or hard magnetic material and/or a gap between the inner magnetic shield and the frame of the mask so as to flow out the magnetic flux, which come from the edge of inner magnetic shield and tend to flow into the inside space of the mask.

    摘要: A compensating coil (50) for a scanning electron beam display such as a color television tube (20) reduces undesirable deflection of the electron beams due to ambient magnetic fields, in particular the geomagnetic field. A first coil section (52) has at least one winding disposed to encircle the tube neck (32), perpendicular to the Z axis. Upper (62) and lower (64) coil sections are disposed above and below the first coil section (52), each inclined forwardly along the Z axis and having a loop encompassing an area extending in the X and Y directions generally following the surface of an internal magnetic shield (80). The coil sections are coupled in series. The upper (62) and lower (64) coil sections have a wider X axis dimension proceeding forwardly along the Z axis, being keystone shaped. Lateral lengths (66) of the upper and lower coils sections connect to the first coil section (52) at lateral sides, such that the compensating coil (50) is a continuous winding. The first coil section may have two passes for each pass of the upper and lower coil sections.

    摘要: A system for improving the operation of a cathode ray tube (CRT) is disclosed whereby interference caused by external magnetic fields is mitigated. The system comprises a CRT having a CRT magnetic shield housing and at least one electromagnetic field sensor (11) disposed adjacent to the inner surface (31) of the CRT housing. Sensors (11) form to generate a reference magnetic field and to generate a sensor output signal (29) in response to the detection of both the reference field and an external field as sensed within the housing. A bucking field coil (41) drive circuit is provided in electrical communication with the field sensor (11), the drive circuit being operative to generate a bucking field coil (41) drive signal responsive to the field sensor (11) output signal (29). A bucking field coil (41) is disposed circumferentially about the CRT and is driven by the bucking field coil (41) drive signal. The bucking field coil (41) generates a bucking electromagnetic field in opposition to the sensed external magnetic field (39), thereby opposing and reducing the degrading effects of the external magnetic field on the CRT display.
